Talking fun at the track even with a 5-0-5 boost pattern lol

well, i was rippin it up on the track and then on the last run went out and was like dam, how these guys get so fast, then i looked at my boost gauge...5 psi LOL!!!

the ran great, i was still whoppin around the track with only 5 psi, it was fun...

... now i have to tear it down and find the boost leak...probably a intercooler coupling craked or somthing....

What were you running with only 5psi?

Wait, is this a dragstrip? or a road course?

Sounds like a road coarse the way he was talking about it. Good luck diagnosing the problem, I would assume a vacuum leak (isn't that always the answer? ).

it was 1.2 mile open road cource ... and it idles fine, so its not a vac leak, im almost positive it is a 'pressure' crack somwhere, a split that only opens when it get to 5-6 psi... but who knows until i take it apart :-)

ill check it out tomorrow.....

Lol, sorry, I meant to say "If this was a dragstrip, what was your e.t. with only 5psi. Then I realized it might have been a road course, hence the second question.

But since it was a road course, my first question makes no sense anyway, cus he wasn't at a dragstrip.

But anyway, I'm glad you found the problem, and it is a simple fix.

Was the leak noticably louder than before??

I have a Apexi open intake and its pretty loud by itself, I am just asking because I cannot tell if it is a boost leak that is making the noise or just my open intake.

I just got a boost guage on my FD and found out I'm at 5 psi and always have been, so I cannot tell whether it is my intake or a boost leak.
Thanks Justus

BTW how big is the power difference between 5psi and the stock 10 psi??
I can't wait to feel how fast my FD is really supposed to be!

damian, I can hook you up with a lower ic hose. pm me if you're interested.

before you go out and go crazy with full boost again, check the y-pipe couplers (if yours are the stock rubber ones) and all the other hoses/couplers related to boost for any sign of wear, these will be the next to go once you start boosting hard again. you should probably invest in some silicone couplers to save yourself from the frustration of having to deal with another damn boost leak after finally getting things figured out.
