Full Pulley Set for FD
hi all
I'm looking for a full pulley set to replace the stock ones. I found this on rx7store:
http://www.rx7store.net/Racing_Full_...20set%20fd.htm
sent them some questions since Saturday but got no answer. weird.
my power steering pulley is making noise. I think the bearing is out. while I'm at it I'd like to get the whole set swapped out.
have anyone got the same set? are they easy to install? especially the main pulley. do I need to remove the crank shaft hub ?
I also need all the bearing replace too. I found part number for the idler. if anyone know part number of all of them, please help.

thanks

Those look exactly like the set sold by Fighters Garage. http://www.fighters-garage.com/rx7.html
Putting on a pulley set isn't too difficult. Only thing time consuming is removing parts so you can get to all of them.
Alternator pulley is a bitch to remove because the nut is damn tight. Use an impact wrench to remove that one. The rest will be easily removed by hand.
Crank pulley comes off easy as well. Just unbolt and replace.
Replacing the WP pulley with an underdrive pulley might require you to remove the top of the upper rad hose. I know I needed the extra space to fit my pulley (but it also was a different brand).

Hmm these aren't underdrive pulleys either looks like. I've been looking for a good set of street pulleys that weren't underdrive ones. Looks like these fit the bill. My old stock pulleys look like crud and it would cost about as much to get them powdercoated anyway.
+1 on Fighters, good folks in my experience too

so I got this set installed. still with 1 problem: the main pulley is a bit smaller than stock which make both belts loose (already tight in all the way). so now I have to look for a set of shorter belts. does anyone have this problem?
I just ordered them too, maybe the main pulley is underdrive I dunno.
Check on banzai's website, they have belt lengths listed according to different types of pulleys (underdrive/OEM size) and mixed combos of both

believe it or not, I took both belts to the local autopart and and still screwed up : gave me 1 way too short and 1 still long. I really appreciated if someone can give me the part number for both belts. many thanks.
Take a piece of string and wrap it around your pulleys in the same manner as the belt and mark where it makes a full loop. Measure the length of string and tell the autoparts strore you need x lenght belt with 5 ribs.
Been looking for info on pulleys, lights dimming, water pump issues. Whats the deal for a street car, stick with stock or go with aftermarket?
(Don't mean to thread jack but I think the OP could benefit from this info as well)

IMO, there is no benefit to a street car using underdrive pulley kits.
^Agreed. There is no noticible increase in power with under-driven (over-sized) pulleys. Just a alot of real or potential issues.
Some years back, options were limited if you removed the airpump... you almost HAD to get over-sized pulleys to keep any contact at all on the waterpump pulley. That's not the case now, with at least three different sources for idler pulleys to take the place of the AP.
If you want a dress-up (cosmetic) set, get the Fighter's Garage set linked above. They're stock size.

If you get them, compare the weights of the stockers and the new pulley sets. Most likely, the performance advantage will come in the form of decreased rotating mass of those pulleys. A well designed lightened crank pulley is better for your street car than a smaller diameter one (under-driven).
