I searched on this issue, and everything that was recommended i pretty much did.

There are no fuel leaks that i can see. I Pressurised the fuel system and there are no leaks anywhere around injectors. I left it pressurised for like 3min or so, and no fuel came out of the injectors or FPD or anywhere around there.

I checked the one way metal check valve and it works fine. LIM and UIM Gaskets were replaced 3k miles ago when engine was replaced. Injectors were cleaned and blueprinted by RC also 3k miles ago. New o-rings on them as well.

I know there is a one way check valve inside of that brake booster hose, but i was told that doesn't fail really. I also do have the Oil catch can and all the emission stuff is removed.

I'm running simplified sequential system and the engine has been rebuilded and ported.

Any suggestions guys? I'm pretty much running out of options.

I had the same problem and it was the injector o rings... I couldnt see the leak but when I removed the injectors... the o rings looked bad. Replaced it and no more fuel smell. Good luck

 

O-rings are new. They came with new o-rings from RC Engineering.

 

When my car was tuned super heavy duty rich there was a fuel smell only under boost. I believe it was comming out the exhaust it was running so rich

 

either the grommet on the primary fuel block that seals the fuel block to the engine is pinched/gone, so under boost fuel mix is pushed out. the lim gasket is leaking, prob would show as a vac leak prob at idle though, or the secondaries are not seated against the diffusers. suppose it could be something weird but i would look at those 3 first.

i had this problem exactly and it was my LIM gasket. You should also notice a high idle of about 1000-1200 rpm and terrible vacuum.

cross your fingers that thats not it....its a bitch to replace to say the least. turbos have to come off for starters. took me 2 weekends, about 20 hours with a competent friends help.

That was my problem. Primary grommets that is.

 

Well, Engine has Heavy Street-port, and i got 15-14in. of vacuum. I set the idle via PFC at 950 and it idles fine there. I mean for a street port that sounds pretty good. The LIM and UIM Gaskets are metal and were replaced when i put the engine in.

Now what is this Grommet you guys are talking about? Is this under the primary injectors or...? I have a set of 1300's that i'm planing on putting on the 2ndary position in a week or two, and i was gonna put 850's in the primary rail, but as i said earlier, i can't see fuel anywhere.

Today, I actually reved it at idle up to 6k and there was no fuel anywhere. Problem is that with the hood open, i couldn't pin point where the smell is coming because the wind was blowing.

 

The grommets are actually called insulators in the parts manual. It's a round rubber donut that fits in the hole in the block and seals the hole between the block and the injector body. Mine were missing!??! I could not smell any fuel odor under any conditions except when the throttle was "goosed" and then it was only for an instant. I did a hose job and replaced the fpd to try to get rid of the problem. I was too ignorant of the workings of the engine to discover the problem on that try. Got it the next time though! OBTW I did see a fuel stain around the primary injectors.

 

How much do those things run for, and if I call Ray at Malloy mazda, should i just ask for injectors insulators? Also, my fuel smell is not for an instant... If i redline it and then let of th gas, it smells for 5-10 sec.
