Fuel return... how much, how fast?

If you unplug the fuel return line put it into a bottle, and run the fuel pump, should you get any fuel flow? Or do you have to actually run the engine for their to be any fuel return?

Would idling be enough for their to be fuel return?

The reason I ask is because I want to know if there is still any old gas in my lines or rails.

If you don't drive a car, does gas simply drain back into the tank at some point?

yes, you'll get whatever the pump flows at your regulator pressure.

No, lines will stay full.

Are you sure? If so, is it weird that I didn't get any flow past the stock regulator with the pump running (engine off)?

I unhooked what seems to be the IN line on my SARD regulator and only the gas already in the line came out (maybe a few ccs).

So if I've only had the engine running for a total of about 20 minutes, is it possible it's still being fed bad gas?

There should be fuel coming out of the return line, you sure the pump is running? Are you checking for old gas in the line or in the tank? I wouldn't worry about the lines as they contain very little fuel, just make sure you have good gas in the tank.

I jumpered the plug but I may have forgotten to plug the pump back in before.... that tends to happen a lot when working with the fuel system.

Assuming the feed lines are 3m long there should be at least 1.5 liters of fuel in the lines, which IIRC have an 8mm ID.

I have 30 liters of good gas in the tank. I think it was almost empty when I put the fuel in.

The engine does not need to be running for the pump to run.

I tried it again and fuel flowed this time. I wonder why. I'm 90% sure I did everything right.

Make sure all the wirings are good, maybe check the connection pump hanger.

Plus you don't have 1.5L of gas in your fuel line, more like 0.15L
