Fuel pump relay

Hi guys so my car is no longer getting fuel pressure or power to my pumps in the trunk, so my questions are, do FDs have a tendency for their fuel pump relay to go out? Has anyone else had that happen? The fuses have been checked.

you can check it pretty easily by just swapping with a different working relay if i remember right.

Unless there is a short it's safe. At worst you have to buy two relays instead of one.

Try jumping the diagnostic box? You can definitely hear the relay click if it works. If you can't hear anything then it's probably the relay, but if you hear it click then you might want to check the pump itself.

Is this a stock pump?

Have you done a rewire to power the pumps directly from the battery? Interesting to see how you have them wire up.

Ya my buddy at his shop out them in and wired them up. From the wiring harness it goes to 4 power relays then from those to the pump. We're all thinking one of the relays in the trunk is done or the fuel pump box relay up front is done. That's why I wanted to know if it is safe to put one of the other box relays in it's place to check first.

So for the front just jump the fuel pump trigger in the diagnostic box, and you'll hear it click. For the back, pull all the relays out, with the F/P pin jumped in the diagnostic box, plug each of them in one at a time and see which one doesn't make a sound.

But 4 power relays? Why so many?

Just for power these pumps are big so naturally they drain slot of power. I also have a surge tank back there.

I have them on new relays on seperate switches...directly direct to the battery. I'm not using any of the oem wiring or relays. So that when I turn the car on... they're on full steam. I don't really recommend this for everyone but it helps cut trouble shooting.

Ya that's a good idea for future problems, no doubt.

Since I don't really have the necessary tools, do you guy suggest I insert another relay in the front to check that one?

rewiring the system really can be done pretty damn cheap. If you own this car...you should probly start thinking about purchasing the necessary tools. It'll save you in the long run

Well then you're going to have to pay them to look at it again... which may start to get expensive.

What tool are you talking about? Trigger the fuel pump at the diagnostic box required a piece of wire or a paper clip.
