Fuel Pump Problem?

Hey guys, I've searched and was unable to find anything that really helped so if this topic has already been covered can someone lead me to the thread on it?

Well the car has not been driven in about a couple of weeks and I took it out to get the oil changed. The car started right up and everything seemed normal, I drove about 10 miles through town to the shop and i turned the car off to go in. Then I came back out to pull the car in and the car started fine again and I got a phone call so i sat in the car with it idling for about 10 min and then the RPM's dropped and it shut off. The car would not restart after this, I left my fans running for about 10 min and tried to start it again and it fired right up like nothing was wrong with it.

I went ahead and got the oil changed and then drove it back to the house with no problems, everthing was fine again. I even turned the car off and restarted it just to make sure it would and it fired right up every time. When i got back to the house I turned the car off then decided to take it around the block once just for the heck of it so i went to pull off and the car died again, wouldnt restart, ran the fans again and after 10 min it started right up and drove fine again.

The car has only been driven about once every other week for the past few months but when it is driven i drive i for a few days at a time in a row. The car did have just below 1/4 a tank and the gas has been in for about alittle over a month if that matters.

Sorry for the long post and thanks for your help guys.

also when it is having this problem the car will turn over and it seems like its right on the edge of starting but it never quite will and it seems like its not getting any fuel. Could this be a sign of the fuel pump being on its way out?

Thanks again

Sounds like a hot starting issue to me, which could be very bad. Get a compression test to rule that out. Once you rule that out, you can look other places.

Had a similar issue, one of my very first problems with my R1. The culprit was bad gas. When car got hot it would cut off just like you are describing.

Put some new stuff in there and see what happens. let us know.
