Fuel Pulsation Damper Elimination

Over the winter I plan on doing some upgrades to the car, mostly ECU and fuel related. Anyhow, with an adjustable FPR, i no longer have the need for the troublesome Fuel Pulsation damper. I read the right up on getting a brass nipple and threading the fuel rail to accept it, but I may have run across something much more simple and reversable if you would ever have the need to put the pulsation damper back on. Its a fitting that bolts in place of the pulsation damper, looks pretty slick. I was just wondering if anyone has used/tried this. From the looks of it, there is an o-ring that would seal inside the fuel rail, and mounts directly to the rail with 2 nuts. Any thoughts?

That's a bit shorter then it should be. K2RD used to make one and the metal pipe was stock length. I'm not shure why the holes are slots but since the o-ring does the sealing then I guess it doesn't matter. If you are going to replace the FPR as well then you will also need some fuel line, so the length won't be an issue then. HKS makes an aluminum adapter with a -AN fitting (all in one peice) but it's $50ea. You can get a Sard adapter and it comes with an o-ring for about $20 but you will need a seperate hose barb fitting (not one peice). You can get a Sard FPR with two 8mm (One for intake and one for return) hose barbs (instead of -6). Some fuel hose, weapen-r adapter and you would still need an o-ring and a place to mount the fpr. If you are stock twins then the most likely spot is on firewall by the rail.

Oh btw, I was told it wasn't needed and it was better to eliminate with the FPR because it would cause problems. I was even told it was teh cause of my fuel fluctuation. Well the turned out to be my mechanic mixing up intake/return lines and I have no problems with it now. So in actuallity I have three FPD's since there is one on my Apexi (Nismo) GTR fuel pump. The only thing to worry about is failure and fuel leakage. If you have the capablity and the time to do it yourself, then go for it. If you have to take it to a shop then it's not worth the money unless it's leaking then take adavantage and replace some vacuum hoses with HTS viton ones.

Well Im definately a do-it-yourselfer so doing this wont be an issue. I prefer to do everything myself, then i know how it went together, how it works, and how to fix it if it breaks. The only thing I wouldnt wanna attempt right away would be a rebuild, that is until I had a spare engine to play with.

And yeah, the big reason to get rid of the stock damper is an aftermarket FPR has a damper built in and it eliminates one more problem that could happen with the car (fuel leakage, possible fire at worst).

I have made adapters to replace the dampters on several cars .My design uses two O-rings on the tube that goes inside the rail and one 0-ring that is compressed between the adapter and the rail . No leaks to date .
