Fuel pressure spiking to 80psi!!

I have the sx fpr, comp fp, B&G filter, and 1,600's sec. with an electronic pressure gauge connected to the regulator.

At about 4,000 rpm, my pressure gauge goes from a steady 40 psi to 80 psi instantly then slowly goes back to 40. I kept the hard lines on the supply and return, but installed new fuel lines from there to the motor.

I am also not getting boost, but that is a different story.

I have a t-62 single, HKS WG and BOV, and AVC-R.

Any suggestions?

did you do any re-wiring on the fuel pump? i didnt have a press. gauge when mine was acting up, but i added a ground to the fuel pump wiring (right out of the pump cover) and immediately showed a difference in fuel delivery. maybe youre losing voltage somewhere then it spikes really had at 4k rpms. . . thats pretty much the rpm that the voltage starts to rise to the pump.

It would not hurt to add a ground. Thanks.

Do you still have the pump wired as the stock 2 speed-style setup? I thought most people hardwired them to constant full-speed w/aftermarket pumps...

If it is running full "speed" constantly (the resistor is out of the loop), I'd test the FPR with a Mityvac and see if the fuel pressure misbehaves.

i didnt do that to mine. . . lowers fuel pump life. . . and involves "work". hahahaha
