Last year I had occasion to test my fuel pressure regulator.

I used a MityVac to adjust the vacuum/pressure applied to the regulator and then measured the resulting fuel pressure on a gauge spliced in to the supply line as shown in the factory manual. I did this with the engine shut off and found that the fuel pressure ran about 20% higher than factory specs, but this difference varied from vacuum to boost. The attached Excel spreadsheet shows my results.

With the engine running at idle my fuel pressure was within +/- 1 PSI of specification (not recorded so missing from the Excel file), so the regulator doesn't function correctly unless the engine is running. Your actual fuel pressure will depend on the vacuum generated by your engine, idle speed, and etc. plus tolerances of your regulator and gauges.

Good luck.

I think the book reads 32 to 38 lbs at idle ,if I remember correctly .

40-45 at idle. and then it's a 1:1 ratio (i.e. 1 lbs of boost should raise your fuel pressure one lbs also)

The stock base pressure is 38-ish psi. That makes the fuel pressure at idle (15 in Hg) about (38 - 14.7*(15/32)) = 30 psi and under 10 psi of boost it should be 38 + 10 = 48 psi. This is very much in line with what I have seen on my fuel pressure gauge.
