Fuel leak

Alright i replaced my radiator to see if it was still leaking antifreeze well after noticeing that was fine i see something else dripping. My dad gets under it and i give it some throttle. Turns out everytime i give it gas fuel starts spurting out somewhere under the intake by where the transmission mounts. It looks like a fuel line may be disconnected or broken. Whats the easiest way to get to it. I've taken off the intake and the valley of vaccum hoses are sitting there staring at me and i dont even begin to see how to remove it... the only other way is pullin the transmission to get behind the block. Any other possible thoughts or know how?

Download the FSM:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-archives-73/tech-manual-directory-614824/

Start by removing the upper intake manifold and the throttle body. Then, look in the FSM on how to jumper the fuel system to test to see if you have a visible leak.

Easier? All the fuel components are on the top of then engine. I don't see any reason to pull the transmission. Do you mean pull the engine to work on it outside of the car?

You can do everything with the engine in the car. It's not that hard. I would pull the fuel rails out, extend the fuel hoses to the rails with some temporary long fuel lines and test the system like this:

https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...&postcount=255

You'll be able to see which component is leaking.

The input fuel line runs from the driver's (left) side of the rotor housing at the rear, over the top, and then into the fuel pulsation damper, the rail, then the output line runs back out through the fuel pressure regulator, back over the top of the housing, and then down the driver's side and back to the tank. You don't need to remove the traansmission to get at it; but removing the vaccum hose assembly is a real bear.

I had a bad FPD, which was leaking fuel, and had to replace it. You might want to read my thread here.

BTW, you don't need to remove the rats nest for any of this work. You can unbolt the rats nest from the block (about 3 bolts) which will let you push it a few inches to get clearance to get the fuel rails in/out.

Thanks a lot guys. That was my dads idea because once the transmission was out the way we could stick our head right into the back... but we'll tackle it tomorrow. I'll read over your threads and work it out.

thanks again.

Well if you pull the tranny, it would give you good access to the FPD. But that is only one of the major fuel leak points.

If you have a leaking injector you'll need to go in through the UIM.

Got rats nest out will begin finding/ fixing the problems today. I'll also replace all the hoses in the rats nest because they are hard as rocks.

Where is a good place to get the FPD and good vaccuum hoses?

fuel pulsation damper is almost always a good choice for the first guess.

Make sure to run a test like I have in the link above. Just don't blindly start replacing parts as you may or may not replace the right part that way.

I need to know what those are and if a fuel leak can come from it, because they have some nasty rusty stuff under it by the WEEP hole. (i guess thats what it is)

main reason being it only seemed to leak bad under acceleration or higher rpms+-

didnt want to fool with the fuel pump so i took the fuel system out and put gas into a long fuel line attaching to the dampener.... put a lot of air pressure threw the system and like everyone thought fuel shot threw the top of the dampener. No further leaks after.

Parts coming in, thanks a lot fellas
