Fuel Injector Electrical Connector Broken

It's always the very small details that derail your project for a bit of time....

Going through and doing rats nest, FPR, FPD, and injector clean up and service. Realized at some point that the small plastic nub on the secondary injector, that the wiring harness clip seats onto, has broken off. Basically the plug goes on just fine, but does not seat or "click" into place as that nub has cracked off and you can pull the connector right back off.

See photos for the one with the nub and the bad one without it. Open to any ideas anyone has to make a permanent fix, I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened to. Worst case I can bite the bullet and get another injector...not sure if I can buy a used one and swap just the electrical connector portion...but it doesn't appear that they are meant to come apart...

I have seen some ideas about glueing and zip ties...but they don't give me much comfort with all the engine heat and it being such a pivotal connection to the motor.

Thank you in advance.

Don't replace an injector over that... put the connector on, smear a dab of rtv over the connector and injector body. It will hold and you'll be fine. That little knub looks like plenty for the tab to catch on though. Manually flick the locking tab on the connector to engage. The connector itself is of course old so the spring action of the plastic is likely worn out.

Good word. I will give that a go and see how we do!

yeah, it seems goofy but i have done it many times on broken FD injector clips and injectors, can't count how many i have seen with a dab of silicone holding them together over the years and i do it as well.

Great stuff guys.

Found another one that was broken as well. Tried the RTV trick so I’ll give her a good tug tomorrow when it’s fully cured.

For the fuel injector, I ended up clipping a piece of plastic off the electrical connector tab from an old solenoid (replaced them all). Used some gorilla glue epoxy and glue it on the underside. Filed it down slightly when it was dry and walah! Got that satisfying electrical connector click and it fit in there very well.
