Fuel gauge not working - Complete write-up
Mine wasn't working and found out it is an easy fix. There's a couple of possibilities:
1st:
Broken ground wire/corroded. Easiest to fix.
If that's the problem, the needle will be way below "E". Like this:
2nd:
Problem with the float. You need to remove hoses on the top of fuel pump, unscrew 2 hose brackets (10mm) and unscrew 8 Philips screws. Inspect assembly and repair.
In my case, the (white) float wasn't there anymore. I had to insert my whole arm in the fuel tank to find it. So I put it back on the assembly.
I also noticed a metal sheet loose in the tank, so I removed it from my tank.
I suppose this sheet is the reason why my float was lost in the tank.
This sheet unwelded by itself, surely because of vibration. Pretty sure it's a local issue, by the way. I suppose this sheet was used as a fuel reserve, when the tank is almost empty.
If, like me, your float was lost in the tank, the needle will stay barely below "E".
3rd:
I suppose a broken cluster could not show accurate reading.
4th:
Wiring issue, I suppose symptom would be like if the ground wire is broken/corroded.
I hope it'll help some guys here.
Sorry for my english.
