Hey when you ordered your BMC did you get the bin for the fluid with it or just the BMC it self? IF you got it on your own, was it hard to take the original bin and put it on the new bmc or was it pretty easy? DId you have to get new seals for it or not?

 

Im not sure if this applies, but I got a BMC for a 929 from ray. It is just the master cylinder. No resevour, no lines, nothin. It should be real easy to swap the bins though.

 

I tried taking mine off once and it was really on there I didnt wanna break it but from what I understand you just have to pull on it right?

 

Yes, there are some rubber grommits in the master cylinder and the reservoir has nipples that just slide into the grommits. I was able to pull mine out without too much trouble, but I suppose you could use a little brake fluid to lube the nipples to help them slide out of the grommits (that sounds a bit dirty, doesn't it?). The nipples might break if there is too much force pushing them away from the "straight out the bottom of the reservoir" orientation, so try to pull straight up or work each out a little bit at a time with small up-on-one-end motions, alternating your attention from one nipple to the other to avoid big side loads.

I also got a 929 master and I think I had a leak between the reservoir and the MC using the 929 grommits, so I ended up using one or both of the grommits from my original RX-7 MC and haven't had any trouble since. I'm not sure if the 929 grommits had a bigger nipple hole or what, but it might be worth taking a close look at the size of the nipple hole in the grommits to see if you might need to use the RX-7 grommits from your old MC instead. If you got a new RX-7 MC, I doubt this will be a problem.

how much was the 929 bmc???

 

It's just the MC, bench bleeding tubes, and a container of Mazda cheap-o Dot brake fluid. You use everything else off your own MC.

 

I got a reman 929 bmc from a local auto parts store for $90 + $50 core chage. I made sure that I could return my RX-7 bmc when I bought it and the desk person said that was fine. When I tried to return the RX-7 bmc to get the core charge back, I let them know that it was not a 929 bmc so that it wouldn't cause a mix-up, and of course that counter person said I couldn't get the core charge back and wrote some crap on my reciept so that I couldn't just try again later. I was kind of surprised that the first counter person said it would be okay when I bought it, so I suspect she just didn't understand what I was asking (I explained it several times to verify, but I think she wasn't very bright). If I hadn't said anything when I returned it, I bet I would have gotten my core charge back. Still, $140 isn't too bad.

damm that sucks i'll remember not to mention that the one i'm trading isn't a 929mc hahaha. Is the one u got a reman oem from mazda dealership or aftermarket from like napa or somthing? thanks

 

It was from a Kragen store. I forget the name of the company that reman'd it. It works great.
