This is frustrating.

So I recently had my turbos replaced, thinking it would solve this problem Apparently it hasn't. I'm getting boost in first all the way up until like 6k rpm or so (I have an RE Amemiya guage, but it's kinda shakey). It feels like it drops off at the end, but again, I'm not sure. If I shift quickly enough, the bost drops down to .1 bar and stays there all through 2nd, until I shift into 3rd and then it goes up to .5 bar. If I let off the pedal in 2nd after shifting quickly so there's no boost, then get back on it, boost comes back up to .5 bar. In third, boost trails off up around 5500 rpm (if I remember correctly). What could be the problem?

Boost leaks, bad solenoids, bad check valves, loose or popped off vacuum hoses.

The autosportracetech site is probably a good starting point for you to start looking around for the problem. Or take the car to a rotary shop that really knows 3rd gens and let them try to find it.

Sounds like you might be having issues with the Turbo Control Actuator. I would check it and its two solenoids.

Very similar problems as you Merlin. I wish I had back about $2500 in turbos and labor dollars I spent ******* around with the twins just to get stock performance. Finally I said screw it, and went single...my patience couldn't take it anymore.

Interesting thing happened tonight. I dumped the clutch and spun the car around to go in the other direction, and boost came on all through 2nd and 3rd. After about 5-10 minutes, the same symptoms came back. I don't know what the hell's going on, maybe it's possessed.

wow. sequential. i remember those days. i even went thru and had it running perfectly after a while. previous owner messed up everything on his whack job vacuum job. my vacuum chamber thats supposed to help open the turbo control actuator after transition was routed to the little plastic tank that the purge control solenoid goes to. i was like wow yea im definately not getting any manifold vacuum from my purge tank. i routed everything to where it should be, put new check valves in, and fixed a couple leaky hoses to fix all the boost/vac leaks and it ran like a million

These intermittent problems are usually a bad solenoid or two. I would start with the turbo control solenoids.

Guess that's as good a place to start as any.

There's a lot of experienced folks who recommend beginning with the same two solenoids.
