frustrated headlight will never turn off

Hi guys
i already hit bottom line with this tiny problem and
dnt know what else to do
I have to disconnect the battery cuz they headlights will not turn off
When I disconnect the battery and connect it back the lights will go off and stay down but 15 seconds later
the headlights will go on again
this is what I have done so far after I did some search
check the retractor relay on the frint fuse box
Check fuses where the battery is
check the fuses by the kick panel
and stilll no luck..
sorry if i don't make my self clear with what im trying to say
I don't know if someone can help me out here
thanks in advance

Sounds like your security is acting up.

Check the head light relay to make sure it's not sticking.

This is the relay that will make the headlight
Go down if I remove it but if I put it back on and turn the switch to turn the lights on
it will happen again the pop ups lights will remain on and up

Could it be something as simple as a sticky switch on the steering wheel stalk? I live near the ocean too and the weirdest electrical gremlins pop up sometimes.
hooray salt air

Quit worrying about fuses. Its not a fuse

It could be a sticky relay but it's far more likely you've got a short in either your stock security CPU or your combo switch stalk. The security CPU and the combo switch are the ONLY two items that control both your popup and your light on relays (short of a short).

Isolate the problem to the CPU or the switch or at least rule them out.

Unplug the 8 pin connector (probably only 4 of those 8 pins are actually wired) from the CPU #2 control box in your drivers kick panel and see what happens. I believe its one of the bottom connectors. This is what the CPU #2 control box looks like:

The connector will have the following colored wires:
Brown, White/Blue, Light Green/Red, Green/Orange

If that doesn't do it, unplug the combo switch using X-04 which is around your steering column. If your headlights go out, it's the switch because the switch controls the relays.

You can also unplug the retractor switch in your gauge cluster if you want, but that should only control your popup up and down, not the 'light' of the headlight.

Yes and no. It is very common these days for the security triggering section of CPU #2 to trigger and stick which activates the headlights, siren, and whatever else you still have security wise that is still stock and connected. Mine went out last summer and I see posts about it all the time. I'll dig into my CPU #2 at some point to see if something is obviously wrong, otherwise, unplugging it is the simplest solution.

Glad you got it sorted out

Lane
