Front windshield wiper motor removal????

I unbolted the four bolts that attach the motor to the firewall, but I can't figure out how to disconnect the linkage between the wiper rods and the motor. Any help please??

Cheers,
Lam

Remove the cowl panel and you should be able to figure it out from there

Do not remove the cowl. That is a bunch of bad advise , It will not help and is completely a waste of time.

Rotate the wiper motor towards the passenger side( move the wipers up the windshield. ) This will allow enough movement to get to the 12mm nut on the back side of the motor.

Alldata:
1. Disarm radio coded theft protection as outlined in Technician Safety Information .
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove wiper arm cover, then remove wiper arm and blade.
4. Remove cowl grille.
5. Remove wiper motor connectors and wiper link, then remove motor.
6. Reverse procedure to install.

I don't care what the manual says to do. If you like i will take mine off again today and take pics of the grill cowl on the car. The manual does not tell you the easiest way to do things. It often includes lots of wasted time. And procedures designed so you can break exspensive plastic pieces. There are other ways than what the manual says. It is a good book, but Not the law.

Let me know, i'll take the 5 minutes and take it off if you like

Removing the cowl is not needed but it may be easer .I do not remove it , If you mark the spline shaft to the arm ,reassembly will be faster as clocking the arm to the shaft is needed .I have a small two jaw gear puller that will release the arm with ease . The dealer does not supply new brushes for the motor but a set can be recut , filled down ,from a starter . I get the brushes from Advanced Auto parts .I usually regrease the unit when apart .

You are correct, you don't have to remove the cowl. But I would not recommend removing the nut unless you can mark the lever to line it back up when reinstalled. I disconnected mine from the ball and socket joint.
