Front Pulley Torque Specs

Hey guys, I'm assembling my first rotary rebuild and have gotten a little stuck with the correct Front Pulley torque specs. It's a 94 rx7 manual.

I've watched about every FD rebuild video on youtube, as well as read through lots of forums and almost everyone says torque for the series 6 front pulley is around 80 ft lbs.

But the repair manual I have stated it is 180-200 ft lbs. Do you guys know why lots of people seem to be going with a much lower torque spec?

That’s the e-shaft torque spec, main pulley is hold down by four 10mm bolts, but neither are gonna be 80lb/ft.

Ok good to know! I'll just plan on going 180 ft lbs.

I saw it on this video. Can't find the other right now.

21 min in.

These two posts mention 80 ft lbs, but it's def possible that they weren't paying attention and thought they were referring to a gen 2.

Sorry, I meant the E-shaft torque. Not the little 10mm pulley bolts.

i torque FD front bolt to 190. the small O ring on the rear end should have a dab of oil/grease, the threads should be cleaned and have a small amount of blue Loctite. the underside of the bolt flange should have just the right amount of Hondabond.

the old cars were like 65-80lbs ft, FD is way tighter

if you don't have it, the little lock tab N3C1-11-408 lets you skip all the locktite malarkey

I don't know if there will be that much of a difference in end results between the two torque specs. No matter what that bolt will be a pain in the *** to get off down the road.
