Front clip

If anyone knows where I can get a front clip for my FD, I would really appreciate it. I found one at mazmart.com in Atlanta, they wanted 3500 shipped to my local shop. I thought that was kinda high, so Im still looking. I would prefer black but if it comes down to it price is alittle more important then color. I dont need the motor or tranny, just the body panels and some interstructur. Thanks

Buying oem parts can be very expensive. You are better off buying an aftermarket bumper and saving the extra money for something else.

The front clip has many more parts than a bumper. Front end structure, hood, fenders, light assemblies, wiring, etc.

Aftermarket bumpers have there downsides too. Looks comes to mind immediately. I don't like most of them. Second thing is many of them are fiberglass. Take a look at one that has been used for a while. They usually have cracks, chips and poor fitment. Bump something, even something really small with a fiberglass nose and you could screw up your hood and fenders while a stock nose wouldn't show any damage.

I've got an entire front clip, but I'm not parting with it

I won't promise you he'll have everything but he might have a couple of things. Also there is someone in the parts for sale section parting out a '93 black touring that was hit in the front and rear but I don't know what's still good.

Also go to the mazda dealer or somewhere online and get manual so you know what parts go where and what you need.

Fenders are supposedly around $200.00 a peice *NEW* from mazda and I know JBurer had a car that was hit in the back I believe, and should have at least a bumper/probably still has the turn signals because I was going to buy them about a week ago..

If you want a J-Spec front clip i have a couple sources..

GSpeed- 310/219-0250
My usual source is in taiwan right now so sorry.

Don't think you'll be gettina a 99 spec or anything like that those are few and expensive. They should be able to source a font clip so you can at least take the front suspension components, motor tranny fenders and bumper. But again don't expect miracles clips do not come everyday and are not as redily available as people think.

Front fenders are cheap, hoods are $750 ea new.

If you are fixing a FD that has been hit in the front it is just a good idea to buy a whole front end. Start looking at what you need for a front end hit guys. Washer tank, overflow tank, radiator, fans, oil cooler(s) w/duct, mounting brackets (sway bar, oil cooler, fans, etc), airbag sensors, suspension parts etc. This stuff adds up quickly and buying bits and pieces from here and there is time consuming and you always find out at the end you need "one more part". You could also use the front end structure which is expensive too.

If you've ever looked at all the parts in the front end of a FD it is really easy to see why they get "totalled" by insurance companies for relatively minor hits. There are just sooo many parts up front. The front ends of FD also have *very little* metal in front of the shock towers so they bend easily.

He didn't say what all he needed. I would have no idea what he needs. I don't know how bad the car was hit. I was just giving him ideas of where to get some of the parts in case he couldn't afford/ couldn't find a front clip minus a motor. He also spelled interstructure wrong and I thought he meant he needed some instruction or help at first. So again I didn't know at first that he needed the interstructure/core support/ etc.

2nd of all, anyone who would buy a new STOCK hood for $750.00 either has some money spending issues or wants to keep their car completely stock. They can be found all over the forum for less than $200.00, and probably more like $100.00.

No flames man, just some info.

Depending on where you live it could be VERY hard to get a $200 stock hood shipped to you in good shape.

Later,
Jeff

It wasnt a bad wreck at all. The motor wasnt shifted at all. The windshield didnt crack. The suspenstion is still all good. The radiator was busted, mass air, hood, right quater panel, the interstructure was bent kinda bad, headlight esembly was busted. Bumper is gone of course. What I really want to do is just get a whole front clip to save the hassel with all the small ****, like a hood latch, overflow, fan, oil cooler, etc.
