found something extra special installed on my FD
was changing out the lame 2 bolt gasket for my catback and noticed this:
so i investigated (we don't like fires here) which lead to this:
NOOOOOOOO
so i bought a decent (seemingly) fuel filter to relocate it, and it came with this nice little bracket, so i mounted it to my subframe:
removed this crappy previous owner stuff from the car...

Thats pretty scary.....!!
Like the time I got my Chrysler back from the exhaust shop and then found they had damaged the brake proportioning valve to the rear wheels while making the exhaust... So they tore it out and put a piece of tube in its place. Hit the brakes hard in the wet, and the back swung around and nearly killed me..

i've re-done just about everything on this car:
sold PFC and commander
rebuilt turbo (GTX35R, currently trying to sell it) at turblown.net
sold turblown single gate manifold
sold 44mm MVR wastegate
bought turblown twin gate manifold
bought two tial mvs wastegates
had a new stainless downpipe made (with wastegates recirc'd)
wrapped downpipe with DEI titanium wrap
bought precision 6262 turbo
bought innovate MTX-L wideband, replaced NGK wideband
bought haltech PS1000 and made a nice harness myself
installed some free LS1 coils and made custom plug wires
bought two pillowball bushings and replaced 2 worn out clunking atomicrex spherical bushings
made heat shield for LIM with gold foil
re-dyno tuned the car
bought double DIN screen to display my haltech data
fixed clogged sunroof leak
replaced spark plugs (one hand-tight loose spark plug, yeah)
fixed -10 oil cooler line leak
bought MAC boost control solenoid for haltech boost control
installed lots of reflective heat sleeving
bought hawk HT-10 pads front and rear (going to replace fronts with DTC-60s)
flushed brake fluid with motul RBF600
replaced and relocated fuel filter and fix future fire hazard
replaced diff bushings with poly
still need to:
replace the rest of the stupid atomicrex spherical bushings
replaced front pads with DTC-60
get alignment

yes the pillowballs.
i had nasty loud metal on metal clunk that would occasionally happen during hard braking, which i tracked down to the driver side tension rod arm. the previous owner used the atomicrex pillowballs in all 6 locations, and these two were just badly worn. the driver side one was bad. the passenger side one was worn too, but not as bad as the driver side.
granted, there were no rubber dust boots used, so it may have been install error, but i replaced them with the OE mazda pillowballs (which were much much tighter when trying to move by hand with a screw driver) and it was obvious that the cause was the loose atomicrex pillowball.
also, the "spacer" rings were also used (which i had to remove to install the OE mazda pillowballs) so the cause of the clunk was the worn nylon inside the atomicrex pillowball.

I love how it says "not for fuel injection systems made in the USA"
Looks like someone forgot a period
Good thing you caught it though. Now I'm paranoid and I'm going to have to crawl under my car again.
