found a fd plz help.
ok i found a fd for sale in my town. The guy is asking 6,800$ for the car,i called him up and went to look a t the car. the body is in good shape,good paint and such. But i was wondering why it was only 6800. Well it has a 4cylender turbo in it.....and if im correct witch i am thats not the right engine.....i have a 89 gtu if i bought the 93rx7 could i put my engine in it..insted of the 4cylender or will it be alot of trouble.........just wondering
and how much would the 13btt be to put that engine back in the car

Well, not knowing you or how car saavy you are, I'd have to questions like: (not meant to insult..)
- Are you certain that it was a 4 cylinder? If you just counted plug wires, rotaries have 4 also.
- Did you see another manufacturer's name on the engine somewhere like valve cover? What engine is it?
If it IS in fact some 4 cylinder, it's probably got a different transmission in it also. Even if it didn't, no you couldn't put your 2nd gen engine in it. The computer wouldn't work correctly, the engine mounts differently and you wouldn't be heading in the right direction.
I have to believe that someone probably didn't go through the trouble to swap engines like that and install a POS. I've seen a few nice looking 4-cyl swaps posted to the board here.. and they wound up making ~350-400 rwhp..
You need to get (or post) more information.

Stay away from it.
Wrecked and redone sounds bad to me unless he can show you some of the documentation of the repairs, like pics.
I have seen a 4cyl turbo in a FD, many people on this board have, SR20DET I believe. I wouldn't think that was a really good idea either. Go V8 or stick with the stock motor.
Your 89 GTU motor is much different that the stock 13b-rew, with modification it would fit but you'll have a ~160hp vs the original ~255hp motor. Mods help the 13b-rew much more than mods help your 89 NA motor, they aren't in the same ball park HP wise.

so you saw the car for 5-6 min and didnt bother to look at the engine bay? if you did, is it hard enough to determine between a piston and a rotary engine?
ok lets say you didnt get a chance to look at the engine, you quickly walked around the car. the guy says it has a 4cly engine, that right there shows what a moron he is.. even if its true, why the hell would you put a "4" cyl engine in there?
idk, this car/owner seems all rashed like a disease..

so then why make this thread if you know rx7s have rotarys?
it seems like you're almost doubting yourself in your question. well making this thread shows that you are unsure about what engine goes into where.
so you did see the engine, what is it? which one?
and yeah you can drop your 13b in there, you can do pretty much anything, you do see a 4cyl in an fd right? there you go..
