I thought you had to get the 99 spec rebar and the foam?

Are you talking about using a '93-'95 rebar with the '99 bumper cover?

The '99 rebar has small foam strips on it that support the bumper cover in several key areas. Mine came from Japan with all of the strips already attached.

It's better to get the '99 spec rebar. You don't want to spend all that money on the bumper face and then ghetto-fy it.

The foam is not like it was on the '93-'95 rebar. The huge chunks of styronfoam padding are not reused. The new '99 rebar is completely redesigned and is shaped to fit against the bumper cover perfectly. The foam strips are not much more than just 1"x 2"x 1/4"D with an adhesive backing and are placed at critical points to ensure the cover will not sag. The old rebar will not come close to supporting the new bumper cover properly unless you start making new supports out of large chunks of styrofoam or something. I have never attempted this because I have the '99 rebar. Do a search around for pics of the '99 rebar - I remember someone posted one a while back.

OK here is the rebar I think...

unfortunatley, the forum is not accepting uploads so this is a link from my yahoo account. However long that lasts.
