Smile Fnally Installed....WOW!

I finally got my M2 Trailing arms and Toe in links on. All I can say os WOW! No more cluncking banging noises. Best of all NO MORE WHEEL HOP!!! Just squat and go. I love it.

wheel hop is just what it sounds like. When you go to dump the clutch the back wheels start to "hop" up and down. This is very hard in the suspension and the diff. Mazda put rubber bushings in the suspension to make it driver friendly, but this tends to act like a sping which makes the wheel hop. The M2 trailing links and toe in links eliminate these bushings with solid metal Heim joints.

I just got the trailing arms installed and went to the track. It didn't do ****. My best 60' time 2.38 seconds due to serious wheel hop.
Did u tighten the screws that come at the end of each links or what ? M2 didn't give any instruction although it looks straightforward.

The major contributors of wheel hop are:

1. trailing arms
2. differential mount bushings (two of these)
3. toe links

If you replace all 3 and lower your tire psi a bit, you should have much better 60' times, and almost no wheel hop.

btw: you can buy mazdaspeed diff. bushings, or delrin bushings from rx7.com, and pettit, also pettit sells a full drag launching kit.

Having worn shocks and springs can also contribute to wheel hop, especially when coupled with the items eric already mentioned.

I don't know too many people who were able to simply add the toe links and trailing arms and do away with wheel hop.

MazdaRx7R1, what suspension set up do you have, and what is the mileage on that set up?

All I have is the stock R1 suspension and 97k miles on it. But, for me it made a world of a difference. You know how it usally goes when you drag launch. Well, know I feel like I'm going to rip off my diff. or drop the tranny(lots of stress from traction).

BTW...I'm running stock rims and tire sizes, with Toyo Proxes.
I like the falken tires better.

I have RP drag launch kit, Mazdaspeed PPF, new bushings in the remaining rear suspension pieces along with stock suspension and stock wheels and I get ZERO wheel hop. --That is when I have a running engine

The car just gets smoother with the above mods. I would also add shocks & springs and PowerFC to my list of items that make the car 100% more drivable. (shocks and springs are from riding in other rx-7s)

I have Apex N1 suspension and M2 trailing arms when I went to the track last night w/ Volk TE 37 275/40/17 Kumho Ecstas.
The problem may have been compounded by freezing temps and sucky tires, so I'll try again when temp go up a bit and get the toe links installed.
But when u put the trailing arms, do you tighten the screws at both ends of the arms or just slap it in there and bolted it up ?
