Just FYI guys, I just spoke to Chris over at RP (www.rx7.com) and he has five 1999 undertrays in stock at $130 each. They don't have the upper second layer that the 93-95 pans have so there is clearance for a front mount setup. I know these can be tough to find (there is a long waiting list at mazdacomp, which sells them for ~$100) so wanted to let the forum know. Running without an undertray leads to high temps, especially at highway speeds, so an undertray is not a part to drive around without

There is some misinformation here temps, with a FMIC will not go up with the tray off at least not with the Radiator in the vertical position and AC condenser in the horizontal position.
It will open your belly to damage like what recently happened to Rynberg.
In my setup I don't think the AC would work with tray on and I know my temps would go up.

I have driven an FD (with greddy 2 row fmic setup) without an undertray for a 150 mile highway trip and had problems with the coolant temps creeping up to 105 degrees celcius. Put a hacked-up 93 undertray on the car, and on the same day, making the reverse trip, temps stayed at 85 degrees celcius.
I need to do soe work on the car, but living in a new townhome isn't very conducive to working on the car.
105 while moving at highway speed? In the dead of summer in FL w/AC I only see under 100C at highway speed. The under tray kills air flow with a FMIC.
Also with the stock setup I would see around 103C under similar conditions with the tray. Around 95F ambient in the afternoon.
Are you running the stock radiator in the stock position?

When I had my blk FD with greddy 2 row FMIC with Fluidyne verticle rad, it still hit 94-96 on the interstate without the fans on. I had 99 front with the 99 underbelly. It might of help a little, but I think best is to run your fans. I didn't have datalogit and never change the fan temps.

Also, 99 spec undertray comes with big foam thing that you could peel it off and relocate so that it will go under your verticle Rad location. That would help seal off so that the air will have to go thru the rad.

It actually pulled the engine and ac along with Phil or I would have been happy to snap a photo.
I run the mazdacomp radiator in the stock location and mounted the ac behind it on purpose but it was pointless since the ac was never cold.
