Unhappy flucuating idle problem!!!!!

I have a 1993 Mazda RX7 has a gurgling idle problem, when it is at idle if flucuates between 1200 and 1600rpm the boost guage shows 20in/hg on the vacuum. When I turn on the headlights I have a steady idle at 1800rpm. Any help greatly appreciated.

start by turning the idle down with the adjuster under the throttle body. This may or may not fix it but at least your idle will be fine because it is terribly high

There are dozens of threads about high idle problems. Try searching and see what you can find.

When did this start?

What did you do?

Sounds a lot like a damaged apex seal. If you weren't pushing the car before it happened it probably isn't.

If it had a damaged apex seal, wouldn't the idle be very low and crappy? It sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak somewhere, but there are many things that can cause a high idle / fluctuating idle.

yeah I guess you're right

it sounds like someone else drove his car and messed it up and then raised the idle. Because mine is exactly the same and when I turn on the headlights it does the same thing.

Prob not though
more info would be helpful

Have you tried a stock ECU?

Mine acted somewhat similarly when my LIM gasket was blown. But my idle was more like 2200 to 2500, fluctuating a lot. If I turned on the headlights, it would go down to 1800 or something like that and steady out.
