I've gone through a couple of the aftermarket exhausts and frankly did not like the sound.

I wanted a throaty, deeper sound yet still wanted the OEM look. I also hate excessive loudness. I built my own with a Flowmaster and am very pleased with it. If I remember all the plumbing etc. added up to about $180.00 or so and that included the two chrome Honda (yeah yeah yeah...) $30.00 tips that slipped right on and secured with a small set screw. They might be Honda but they are high quality and won't discolor.

Don't worry about the heat issue, I have a friend who runs them on a sponsored nitro burning funny car and they hold up just fine.

I wonder what that would sound like if I slip on a FM on the MP and couple that with the Powertone for a CB?
