Floating feeling

I tried searching but with no luck. I am having a weird issue when driving. I pulled the motor back in December to do some work on it. Put everything back in 2 weeks ago. Motor starts up great every time and runs smooth. But when driving it feels like my front has no response back to me. Like the front of the car is floating on air. And when taking a turn 40+ mph the car has tons more body roll than I remember. Is this because the motor was out of the car for so long the front suspension is not functioning correctly? Or could it be just misaligned?

Was it sitting on jackstands during the rebuild? How many miles are on your front struts? They may have given up the light while in the air.

It wasn't on jack stands for very long. Maybe 8 days total over the entire time. Mostly turned into a weekend project over that time frame. During the week it would be sitting on all 4 tires. And they are still the stock struts. 80k miles.

You really need to get under your car and start looking. We can give you idea's for what to look for, but overall, you're going to have to start poking around.

- Ensure your front swaybar is connected on both ends. Check that the mounts aren't cracked or loose. This is common.

- Put the car in the air and shake the wheels side to side and up and down. This will help reveal not only ball joint or tie rod issues, but also if a control arm has worked loose.

- At 80k and almost 20 years, it's DEFINITELY time for new shocks and springs. If the car bounces under bumps or is easily pushed down by your hand then they are toast.

Also, real simple - check your air pressure in your tires. Low air pressure will make the car sway around and feel weird.
