Flashing Airbag light

My airbag light start to flash in a sequence of fives. I did some research and tested the harness and it seems the harness is in good shape. I ohmed the D sensors and they ohm at 1.18 K. I am assuming that this is acceptable. The only thing left is a bad dianostic module? My cruise control stopped working a week before the airbag light came on. I am guessing that the two are connected. Anyone else had a similar issue?

you know my FD's air bag lights are blinking to dont know why though or how many in a row but sometimes it does it and others times it does but that may be bad wiring in my car but i dont use the cruise control so dont know if its releated.

mines doesnt blink, it just stays on.

i think there's a wire in the steering column or a fuse that needs to be replaced.

Search for shock sensor. I think that might be what the problem is, but don't quote me on it.

Have you been thru section S of the Body Electric manual? The 3rd flowchart has a couple more tests you can try...

I'm having airbag problems as well.
I have done a lot searches and learned a lot but not enough to resolve MY issue.
You should try the search feature - sometimes it works and then again sometimes you will have to make a new topic.

Anyway from what I have learned, if your airbag light blinks and your cruise control stops working (also your horn) it could very well be your clock spring. Which I guess is a device that resides in the steering stem.
So try a search on clock spring.

My airbag problem is worse. Mine beeps 5 times X 5. Extremely annoying and I'm ready to just disable the airbag system and need to know how to do it safely.

good luck

Don't mean to hijack your thread here but mine is doing this also but it started happening after I took out the stock sterring wheel w/airbag and put on a sparco hub and wheel. Obviously it has something to do with that but is there a way to making it stop flashing for good other then putting black electrical tape over it so I don't see it hehe

I have heard (but as with all forums- I want to either hear it from five other guys or a moderator to make sure it's valid) that you can pull the wires out of the air bag module which is located under the dash by your right knee and this will deactivate the airbag and the beeps and lights.

I just don't want to have a surprise while I'm doing 130MPH!

Unfortunately, the top guru's don't know much about the airbag system.
Although, Cam Pettit's gal Candy's seven is starting to do the same thing.
So maybe we'll get an answer soon :-)

Do be careful about just pulling a light bulb, an empty socket can short across and 'let the smoke out'. Better to put a burned out bulb in the socket, it wasnt a FD but... ask me how i know........
"electricity is not invisible, it's really smoke, the idea is to keep that smoke in the wires from leaking out"

I found that when I removed the bulb, I started getting the beeping sound. Drove me nuts, so I stuffed the light hole with a bit of foam and put a dud bulb back in. No light and no sound.

I had the same issue a couple of years ago & came up with the same fix..........

Wait till your security systems starts acting up. Once or twice a month mine would honk the horn & flash the lights, just once, around 3am. Wake me up from a sound sleep. It was in the garage unlocked, so I couldn’t figure out why the alarm would even be active.

The key buzzer stopped working & the alarm light wouldn't always light up & flash when I did lock the car.

Turns out it was the #2 computer module, under the driver's side kick pnl. I replaced it & all kinds of stuff starting working normal again.

I opened the box up, but it's all integrated chips. No replays, other than the blinker/flasher (which worked).

Ghosts in the machine.....................

Is there a thread/link that tells how to correctly fix the series of five beeps OR how to correctly disable the entire system?

read what i said thats how you remove the system
1.disconnect battery
2.unscrew the screws behind steering wheel to unplug airbag
3.unplug the plugs in the box by your right knee
4.take out light bulb(or put a dead bulb in like the other people said)

or replace the airbag computer with a new one because i think the fuse inside is blown thats what the five light sequence means but the only way to replace it is get a new computer

I am having the same type of trouble also here, the airbag I got... in the car... wasn't even hooked up! it was just sitting there, like I drifted the FD a little, and the passenger air bag slid out! I was like herm, thank god I didn't hit my passenger with it. the wires weren't connected, nothing. That sucker is Heavy!

But my airbag light will sometimes flash on and off, I think it's the ground for the sensor on front bumper. I have to run all new grounds throughout the engine bay to make sure everything is top notch, because I found out that two of the grounding points, the white connections on the rad support are pretty darn importantin insuring that the car runs fine, and the headlights don't go bezerk.
