Question Fjo Peak and Hold controller install

Ijust received my FJO peak and hold injector controller and will be installing it this coming weekend. Before in do I would like some input form members who know how to create solid, reliable wiring connections. For those who are not familiar with the FJO controller, basically it is wired in between the ecu and the inject connectors. It works with your ecu to do a much better job of managing after market injectors like 1680s without the use of resistors. To be clear, I am not asking about how to install the controller, rather I an seeking input from experienced wiring guys out there on the best way to make good solid connections, especially with these very small gauge wires. Obviously if I get this wrong I risk loosing my motor. I purchased a small junction connector which would possibility mount on the fire wall. It utilizes screw down type connectors. After purchasing it, I became concerned it would become a problem over time. Your recommendations and instructions would be appreciated.

The best and most reliable way to connect wires is to solder them, heat shrink, then electrical tape together. Heres a little walk through.Cut both sides expose the wires you are going to be connecting...Now take a piece of heat shrink and put it on eigther side making sure you move it away from the actual section of wire you are going to be soldering becasue if its to close it will close on the wire leaving you asses out and youll have to use elctrical tape which isnt bad but its not as resistant as heat shrink. Now instead of twisting the wires up like most people do and wrapping them around eachother what you want to do is kind spread the wires individually so all of them are pointed straightand they arent twisted now put both ends together so they meet and are intertwind in eachother... heres were its going to take a little practice put the soldering gun on the bottom of the wires and put the solder on top of the wires pretty much what you are trying to do is heat the solder up through the wires so it seaps into and around them. this will take a little practice but once you get it down and since the gauge wire is pretty thin it should work well. Once the connection is soldered give it a little tug and make sure the connection is solid if it is slide the heat shrink down and hit it real quick with an open flame and it will close around the connection and your done... Just re-peat for each wire and your done... Good luck

Thanks Chris, I really appreciate the level of detail in your explanation. I can see after reading this why I was never able to make this work to my satisfaction. I will practice on some spare wires until I feel good about the results.

I have been not so patiently waiting for my 500R from A-Spec. Sean warned me up front that his biggest problem was getting work done in the time he committed to do it. He sure got that right. I sent my up-front money the end of April, they told me 4 to 5 weeks and I still don't have it. To me though, their biggest shortcoming is communication. In my opinion they could really take a giant leap forward by working on their communication. I'm pretty sure they are not going to be able to get work out of their shop much faster.

My guess is a lot of their customers are like me. We are learning as we go and end up asking a ton of questions that have likely all been asked before and take a lot of time to answer. If they put together a facts sheet that anticipated most of them, things like fuel needs, spool up characteristics and different option explanations, break in, additional equipment recommendations and requirements, what is included and what is not, and sent it to their new customers they could likely have happier customers, improve their communication by allowing more time for the customer who's setup is about to be shipped. I really think they could even end up with more time to work on production. I don’t think I am that much different then most people, I don’t like waiting in line, but as long as the product makes it worth it, and they take good care of me when it is finally my turn, then I am a happy camper. Unfortunately this has not been my experience, they are slow to respond to emails, if at all, don't answer their phone, and don't retrieve VM messages so that their message box is often full and virtually leave you no way to communicate. Poor communication on a $4k job = not good!

Oh well, sorry for the rant, nobody around here to vent to. Hope everything is going well with you. How is your project coming along? I see you post some stuff in FS section from time to time. Did you ever get your fuel setup sorted out?

THANKS AGAIN for the "how to" on wiring, I will send you some info on my car when I finally get it running.
