Exclamation Fixing My Tranny!!! Pics Inside!!!

Hey guys,

I thought I blew up the tranny this weekend... My reverse went totally out (Couldnt get it into gear) and my 5th gear synchro was giving me some problems all the sudden...So today I ordered a JDM 5-speed tranny...

Well I just went out and took out my shifter just to check things out and see if their wasnt anything really noticable that had gone wrong...Well as you can see in the pic...Something did go wrong...Where can I find one of these white dills? Whats the name of it? How about a part number? Im thinking surely that was the problem...If so I wanna get this thing fixed...And I guess this tranny will be up for sale soon since I have a JDM headed my way..

Thanks guys,
Shawn

thats the nylon bushing for the shifter. i'd call ray at malloy mazda. these parts go bad quite often because lots of guys run short shifters and this peice has to come off of the stocker and slip on to the new shifer. it is a pain in the *** but it works.

where did you order that tranny? i might be interested.

Mazdatrix has an "upgraded" version of this. I think its aluminum. It's a few bux more than the factory one and its supposed to last way longer too. I bought one but havent installed it yet.

Definitely let us know if you notice anything different with the aluminum bushing. The guy I bought my car from swapped one in (it has a short shift kit) and the transmission seems to make a lot of nosie. Still trying to define "normal" for this car and what sounds I can stop worrying about.

I has having that same problem but I fix it when I was driving around the block and I would continuously stick it in reverse. I didn't go in but all of a sudden it grinded and I came to stop and reverse was working again. Also how much and where did you buy the tranny. Im intrested in changing mine.

There's a guy named Brian (e-mail: ss427bb@hotmail.com, forum name: Japan2LA) that's in southern California that has about 10 or so low mileage j-spec transmissions left (sold about 50 over the last few years). I just ordered one from him about a week ago and am having it installed now. I spoke with him, and he basically gets a ton of J-Spec drivetrains from Japan every year, sells the motors off pretty quickly, and has a bunch of tranny's sitting in storage. It was delivered the next day.
