fixed my FD passender side door handle

a couple weeks ago when it was about 95 degrees out, i pulled up on my passenger side door handle and it clicked and then had no resistance at all. So after a few weeks of not being able to take it anymore and not having the money to buy even a used one I decided to take it apart with a friend/mechanic to figure it out. It turns out inside the mechanism there is a sort of clip thing that the handle pulls on to activate the mechanism. The clip was bent to the side so the door handle couldn't grab it. We bent it back, completely lubed the mechanism, put the door handle back together and put everything back together. Now it works as if it were brand new, and its extremely easy to pull up on.

It's worth a shot. My drivers side door handle is broken and I'm tired of having to go in through the passenger side door.

yeah, it was such a relief knowing that i didn't have to go to the dreaded mazda dealership and spend hundereds of dollars on the new mechanism. It took less than a half hour to fix it from the time we began to dissassemble it to the time we tested it.

You should leave your windows open and get in it like they do in "The Dukes of Hazard."

bringing this thread back to life...just had the same problem, not only did the metal tab bend but the plastic is all gouged out there too. once you bent the metal back how the heck did ya get the handle back on? i just can't get it to fit and am starting to look for alternative methods for connecting the plastic handle to the metal linkage. the whole contraption seems awfull complicated for a stinkin handle...
