Fix for 1st/2nd Gear Binding
Not sure how well-known this is, but if you're experiencing that awesome binding going into 1st and 2nd gear which is common with vehicles manufactured up to August 1st, 1993: The cause is the chamfer on the tips of the clutch hub sleeve
After 8/01/93 they used a press to form the chamfer, which eliminated the binding bullshit.
Fix:
Replace the 1st and 2nd Clutch Hub Set and Synchonizer Ring. Section J of the FSM will instruct you through this operation quite well.
The old Part number..the shitty one..is: R523 17 260
The NEW and Improved part number is: R523 17 260A (same...but with an "A" )
Labor time on this is about 7.2 hours...so be ready for some fun
