First time WOT

Well, I've had my car for 6 months now and few days ago I gave up and did a WOT, 1st gear and then off I went and the first impression was...sledgehammer. A hard punch, I didn't know if/when I threw in the second gear and then it was all over, already near my home so easing off.

This car is scary. Currently it is more than I can handle. Very impressing!

Only intake+catback.

I wonder the people who have a REALLY modded FD with serious power upgrade, how do they feel their car? I mean, my car is almost stock but still it was one helluva kick!! I've been thinking of power upgrades but now I'm wondering do I really need those, this car is very fast in stock condition!

Yeah, the car is incredible stock and when you start modding it gets a little harder to keep it reliable. Keep it stock and enjoy it.

I remember the first wot run after I did the single turbo. I felt like someone punched me in my face, threw me over their shoulder, and ran screaming down the road.

Welcome to the wonderfull world of turboed rotories

Horsepower is like heroin. You'll get used to it very quickly, and then you'll be wanting more.

How can you own this car for 6 months without ever going WOT? Jeesh, I wouldn't put up with all the **** of owning these things without enjoying them.

Although I will say, that with the BNRs running at 15 psi, there is much less of a need and opportunity to go WOT....

I agree with Rynberg!! My first WOT was when I test drove it =) The owner kept nagging me to do it so I did and right after that I was sold on the car! Now every time I upgrade something to get more power I am more amazed each time... I enjoy my car the very few times I get to drive it =)

Wow, no WOT for 6 months! I try to drive the car fairly hard during the test drive to show any bugs, especially with these stock sequential twins.

lol....yeah, they are fun. I'm reminded of when I first got mine back in October of 2000, I came on gushing like a typical excited noob about how awesome the car was.

Then I realized I had a blown Y-pipe-to-intercooler coupler that was wasting most of the boost.
So when I fixed that I was like, "HOLY FRIGGIN' MOSES!" and started gushing all over again, only to hear the bemused chuckles of the senior forum members that had already been there/done that and were into some serious mods/hp increases.

Stock the cars are awesome. Lightly modded they are incredible. Heavily modded they are scary-fast and not for the average driver, not by a long ways, as well as losing some reliability.

In japan, it's pretty difficult to go WOT when you live in the city. Unless you go out pass mid night.

Yeah, I remember my first WOT, scared me silly. Then I found my boost leak, only gettin' 5psi, fixed the leak. The next week went WOT, I swear I **** my pants.

Yeah, even with one properly working rotor (my rear rotor was blown), my FD scared the crap out of me the first time I went WOT.

I find it hard to believe too. It's like sleeping with a model and not tapping it - you'd have to be, well you get the point.

I generally don't WOT too often, but usually once per trip if there is open road. Just never within the first 5 min.

yea the first time i went wot i was going down the interstate i was in 3rd, floored it, 4th, 5th, next thing i know the spedometer is at 180 (i have different gears, it was more like 160) and i had the 'better than sex' smile i guess.

i still love the way the car feels. i think its pretty good when a guy that was driving a 455 whp dsm was almost more impressed about how my car felt (i let him drive it) than he how he felt with his dsm.

I just love everything about it. Since then ive driven a 06 vette, 550 hp mustang, and a few other pretty fast cars, and honestly none of them give me the feeling that my rx7 gives me.

The ONLY thing to ever give me the same feeling that the rx7 gives me is my brothers (dont laugh) yamaha banshee.
It has this 'powerband' thing? it seriously feels the same way as my rx7.
not to mention his banshee has 109 whp.

that is the best way that ive ever heard it put. my car doesnt feel as quick to me now as it did when i first went WOT on the test drive. then when i removed the cat it was like "oh ****!!!"... now im in need of more power.

my passengers feel differently though scared shitless when i accellerate... and alot of times its not even WOT.
