First Problem!!!! (searched)

My car has close to 35,300 miles, I've put nearly 1600 miles since I bought it last month. My only mods are the adam c stock airbox mod and Pettit smooth hoses for the intercooler. Today I took it out after 10 days of no use because I was on vacation. Before I left for vacation I disconnected the battery but it started perfectly once I reconnected it.

I filled up with Sunoco 94 octane then I drove around town, boosting here and there and taking it to redline a couple times after it warmed up of course, everything was fine. After I got out of my job this morning at 330am I was driving home and then it suddenly happened.

I pressed the gas pedal all the way down and the car just stopped accelerating like bouncing off the rev limiter. It happened at 3000rpm and it sounded like it was backfiring. I tried a couple times and it happened everytime the throttle went more than 50% (rough estimate). The car will rev up at very light throttle but cut and stop revving when pressed further. I sounds bad and shakes. The idle is also bad, jumping between 400-800 rpm and shaking.

Vaccum hose? TPS? Ignition coils or wires? Blown motor at 35k miles? Time to put the aftermarket warranty to use!

Any reputable 3rd gen mechanic near the Detroit, MI area? I might have to take it to Columbus, OH to the rx7store, 3 hrs drive if I can't find a closer one, ****!

HELP!

This is just a guess, but no one else with more knowledge has responded, so it'll be somewhere to start.

Check your IC connections. Make sure they're good and tight. How long has it been since you replaced them? It might just be a loose connection.

Someone else who knows more should have a better idea though. Good luck.

Sounds like the hose to the map sensor might be off.

MAP sensor. Little black box on the firewall labeled "boost sensor" near the UIM. Hose can pop off on it all the time under boost.

Map sensor is reading 1bar - meaning its disconnected and flooding your engine. Been there, done that.... No worries.

Manifold Absolute Pressure? I beleive thats the abbreviation for it, someone will probably correct me. Its how the computer senses whats the pressure (amount of air) entering the engine to adjust the fuel, timeing and other things.

It might be your fuel pump relay. I forgot to put mine back after i removed(can't remeber why) and the same thing happend to me at 3000 rpm. It just stopped accelerating like it was hitting fuel cut. It might be that the relay is dead. Check it out. It's in the front of the car. Under that littel black plastic vent bok infront of your air filter an IC. Check it out.

Yep, the MAP sensor hose popped off. I plugged it back in and it was all fine except that it popped off again!! How do I prevent it from doing this? Do you think the hot weather has anything to do with it getting loose?

Use some crazy glue and a small zip-tie or hose clamp to keep it on.
Check the hose to make sure there is no rips or tears by the MAP sensor causing it to fall off.

I wouldn't superglue it on.

There should be a clamp on the hose, but it sounds like the hose is just plain wornout and should be replaced.

I wouldn't superglue it. that would gunk up the outside of the nipple...put some RTV (silicone glue) on the nipple (not inside the nipple) slide the hose on and then use a zip-tie and crimp it down. I did this with all my hoses and have no probs.
