Positive- dunno when it was (probably in about 1993) all of the kids on the school bus were talking about how sleek this mitsubishi (Eclipse) was, how fast it was etc. I saw my first FD and wondered if i'd ever make enough money to own one. Read the book that the library had about the wankel engine... I was a *huge* nerd.
+1
Okay, so if i can't use the obvious handle to close the door... ah crap, the door latch surround is broken too, dammit! Pinched myself! NO! Honey, don't_use_the_handle!

I love the FD but it does have a few issues, like any car. The fixed steering wheel does suck, I agree. But if I could have anything adjustable, it would be the petals (like Ferrari's). The clutch petal just doesn't "match up" to the rest. You guys know what I'm saying.
The petals are as slick as anything when your shoes are wet. I had always read that in magazines but thought they were just cry-babies. After a slip or two myself, I see it's true.
And I have to go against what everyone else is saying, but I think the car is too big. Why is the hood so long for a 1.3 engine? And why is there so much length from the back of the driver's seat back? My 8 year old neice actually asked me why there was so much room back there for a two seat car. She her daddy's 90 Civic hatchback was smaller than mine. Wow. I didn't have an answer to that. I just said, yeah it is kind of long for what it is. I'm not going to nitpick over the rest of the small issues, because it's a fantastic car!

Heh, I remember my first negative impression when I first brought her home...SHE'S LOUD with the Blitz Nurspec exhaust she has now...not as loud as the Apexi N1s I've heard about but still loud. I didn't like the loud exhaust sound but now...I've grown to like it (though I still want RB duals and high-flo cat eventually). I've driven regular sedans and SUVs most of my life prior to the RX7 so it was a big jump in terms of size and sound.

Nice car there FDZero. I've always liked the yellow R1's. I have to say what I think looks great are the whites. Seems odd but I like them. I know that's not an R color, I just mean in general. But I digress. So, it's pretty crazy going from SUV's to an R1! What made you say, hmm, I want a really hardcore sports car? Just curious.
What about the first impressions to our passengers? You know, the embarrassment you get when the 3k hestitation kicks in and you have to explain to your passenger that it wasn't you, it was the car? Then we have to explain why it happened without making the 7 look problematic...
