First Day with PFC and pulled a WRX STI

This is actually posted in the PFC forum but not getting any action so I thought I would move it here...

Ok, so I finally got the PFC in and then let the car idle of about 20 minutes...the next day I got to drive it and test with a bunch of 3rd gear WOT tests...getting about 11.5psi ...Previously it was 9.5-10psi...

On the way home an WRX pulled in behind me and I flored it through 3rd and some of 4th until we ran out of road (max speed 195kmph) but I was watching him the rear view mirror and I was gaining on him...not super quick but noticable...my mods so far are DP, Intake, and PFC...Would this be normal to pull that car with these mods?

Also, I noticed that at close to redline the Commander beeped at me...does that mean I am hitting red line, or is it some serious warning or something?

are you sure it was your commander and not the shift beep (from under the dash)?

also, i don't think that the STi versions are in the states yet, so it was most likely a regular WRX. Still quick, but stock WRX vs. healthy FD (with or without mods) is not really a competition...............unless you are on anyting but dry pavement!

Kinda fun to get those few extra pounds of boost, eh?

You sure you never heard that beep before installing the pfc? Cause from your description, it sounds like the factory shift alarm. It's kinda hard to hear in my car. Not sure if thats cause I always have my windows down, or the stereo is turned up. It basically just warns you that you are approaching redline, so you may want to shift soon.

As for the WRX, I used to pull on stock WRX's with just a DP, and a significant boost leak on my secondary turbo. I haven't played with one since fixing the leak and putting on some of my recent mods. Pretty sure I can walk them really easily now.

Laters,
Rob

I have a 94 R2...I have never heard that beep until the PFC was installed so I am assuming that's where the noise is coming from...it only happend a couple of times when I got to 7600rpm in 1st...don't think I ramped it up that high in second...I am pretty sure the STI is here in the states now because I saw one at the walmart here in Tulsa...Anyway...dats dat

Rob, I just got the RB dual last firday and they are going on this weekend...how do you like 'em?

One more question...with these mods is it ok to use the base map and go to the second boost setting? Kinda paranoid I am going to blow something up

The STI WRX is coming out as a 2004 model next year! Well from what old friends tell me anyway from the www.i-club.com. There are people here in colorado that have orderd STI the first week the WRX was here and still don't have it yet.

I love the RB man!!!!

Actually, thats kinda funny you mention it, cause I actually just put that on last weekend.

Its nice and quiet at idle (although still a bit louder than stock). It has a really nice tone to it just sitting there. Thats kinda the way I like it (not a big fan off extremely loud exhausts as I think most of them sound like a~~). But when you open 'er up, and go WOT, she screams! Sounds like a ferriari or F1 racecar or something along those lines. I've already run against a couple of people after installing it, and all of them have complemented me on my exhaust sounds after the race.

I think you'll be extremely happy with it. I know I am

So you'll have a DP, CB, and intake? I'm not really sure , as my pfc has been modified, but I've heard that the stock pfc maps are rich enough to handle those mods, along with a high-flow cat and an intercooler. In either case, you'll probably want to get it dyno tuned eventually, so you can free up some fuel (and some power) in various places of the maps. But until you get it to a dyno, I'm almost positive that the base maps should work fine.
