Finally selling my FD

My FD is for sale over in the FS forum. The car looks friggen amazing with the new VR paint - almost looks like glass. Defnitely a great example of what a healthy modded, no-lag FD should be like. The car has only been used for occasional spirited runs and street races but never been launched. The car was built and tuned by KD Rotary. I'll be putting it on Autotrader, Ebay, and might go with a high-end magazine like DuPont Registry or whatever it's called. The way my car snaps heads around here I wouldn't be surprised it sells in my hometown since FDs are extremely rare here (more Supra TTs) If you guys know of anyone looking for a prime and well taken care of FD, send em my way. By the way, anyone know how to post pics on the thread?? Little help.

That's a shame Barry, you're one of the better members on the forum and have a very tastefully done car. Good luck on your sale -- don't take less than what it's worth. Keep us up to date on whatever new car you go with....

I always wonder what RX7 owners, not passerby owners, but ones that have pour time, money, sweat and blood into them, move onto when they go on.

Not to turn this thread around, but I'm just curious, as to what you are planning on moving onto. And what others ahve moved on to.

I think I saw an RX8 from Rikki.

My choice would be an m3... though in addition to my FD.

I'm currently building a house in Florida and I'm simplifying my life. My wife has wanted to kill me for years for how much money I've dumped into this damn car. To be honest, there is no car that could "replace" or move on to over my FD. Even cars that cost over $50K. But I'm done in the sports car world and if anything I might get an 95 MR2 Turbo and keep it stock to play with - but no other car in the plans. What else is going to compete at this performance level and looks other than a Z06 or 911 TT. If I don't sell it for what I want then I'll take it to Florida - but want to sell it though. Someobdy will get an awesome car.

If it has to go to Florida, I'll drive it down for you

I really need to see this car now that it's been repainted.

Barry,

I heard about your car from Dave when he was comparing my dyno graph with my BNR 3 with non-seq. Anyways, I just built a new house my self. I tell ya, It was a bitch when I had to see all the aftermarket parts including single turbo kit which was never installed to be able to get the house done. Being in Milwaukee, land value is still not as expensive as some area but my advise to you is, you will not be happy if you sell her now and beside your garage will look empty. Good luck on either way you have chosen.

I saw something about an MR2 swap - take MR2 (perhaps even non turbo), and put in a camry v6 engine. From what I understand, easy swap - cheap - and definitely reliable with a little kick for a tiny car .

ps wish land value here in NYC was cheap hahaha. It costs 400 a month to park car in indoor garage. and um... think a 500 sq feet apartment goes for north of $300k... and that's for a cheap *** ghetto apartment...

wheeee I love nyc :\

Pics are coming ..haven't had a chance to get the digital camera out lately. Once I scrub down the engine bay and clean the interior I might not want to sell the car. I built a house here in PA 8 years ago and sold it because the driveway was too steep (got old in winter) - sold it for an awesome price and plan to live in a payed for home in Florida. I could drive my FD around all year long

Ken, I see you got nice numbers out of the BNR 3s - how do you like them non-seq?

Your tire size compared the wheel width looks perfect. How wide are the rear wheels and what size tires are on there?

I have 18x8s all around with 235/40/18s up front and 245/40/18s out back with Nitto 555 Extremes all around. When I went with these rims (which are heavy) I found that the tires don't handle as well as my Dunlop D40M2s on the stock rims but with 245s out back, I have traction in 1st and 2nd gears (with 380 rwhp!!) and my tires have 10K miles on them with 80% tread left - very strange. I honestly think the weight of the wheel helps me keep traction since a lightweight stock 16 inch rim FD would be spinning all through 2nd into 3rd with that much hp.

By the way I have more pics at

http://public.fotki.com/kwikrx7/rx7_page

I'll have pics of the interior and custom stereo soon.

While the "supra" style wing and the wheels don't fit my tastes either, Barry's car is very tastefully modded and has been well maintained. It is well worth the asking price, as rims and the wing are easily removed if they do not suit your taste.

Please don't shout. Have a nice day.

Everyone has their own taste as far as wings and wheels go. I'm not into erector set wings and carbon fiber stuff. The supra wing has grown on me and I like it. I never asked your opinion on what you thought about my taste. Don't really care. I like it and if someone that buys it doesn't like it, then they can remove them. It's built and maintained as well if not better than any comparable FD out there and also has new paint.

kwikrx7, I don't even think jkisineffect deserves a respone to such a rude post. We should all just ignore it and not even refer to it. If he doesn't like your car, then he should have passed right on by to the next thread without posting anything.

On the other hand, he is a newbee with only 15 posts so he definitely needs to learn some respect and common sense.

jkisineffect: since you don't like his car, why don't you post a pic of yours? I bet you still have the stock wheels on it, huh? From what I usually see from the people who criticize and talk ****, their cars are no better. And don't post a pic of someone else's car. Some proof that it is your car will get more respect.

Welcome to the forum.

-Tom

EDIT: I just looked at his profile and it says he owns a 1994 toyota supra.

I finally put my FD on autotrader. Set the price at $21.5K and go from there. I figure with F&TF 2 coming out, people will want their hands on a nicely modded and miantained FD shortly.
