Finally passed my Smog here is how I did it and my results

My results:

15mph....%C02 Measured:14.4
25mph....%CO2 Measured: 14.5

15mph....%02 Measured:.5
25mph....%O2 Measured: .4

15mph....HC Measured:0 (max 88)
25mph....HC Measured: 0 (max 53)

15mph....CO Measured:.03 (max .52)
25mph....HC Measured: .01 (max .50)

15mph....HC Measured:17 (max 704)
25mph....HC Measured: 26 (max 738)

Results: Pass, Pass

How I did it cause I was afraid I would fail:
2 weeks ago, put some CRC "Guaranteed to Pass" in my tank. Filled it with 16 gallons of Mobil Superunleaded. I don't drive much so I ran my gas to the bottom in 2 weeks, filled it with a tad more CRC "Guaraneed to Pass" and filled my tank 1/2 way.
Ran the car for 45 minutes making some 100mph highway runs in 4th. Went to the Smog Test only station and passed. Heee Heee...first time too...

(too bad they don't have an FD picture on this...just a darn 3000 GT)

So is CRC's "Guaranteed to Pass" product just a super dooper injector cleaner, or something a lot fancier? I look at the posted link and some of their literature, but didn't find too much.

frank,

Post any mods you currently have which may have an influence on your emissions.

Example:

Intake: HKS filter
Exhaust: Blitz Nur Spec exhaust, Bonez high flow cat, Racing Beat downpipe
Injectors: ???

You get the picture.

Thank you.

The hard runs get the engine and exhaust system good and hot, where they work best, at least regarding emissions.

Guess that depends on how they did it then... what do you mean? They put the car on a dyno & run it at 15 mph, then 25 mph & check the emmissions during those times in addition to the test at idle.

that's different than even three years ago when I last lived there. They used to just check the car at idle.

It depends on what county you live in. Here in SoCal they've used rollers for at least 3 years (much more I think) now, but in NorCal I know at least within the past year they were still doing idle only. Btw, if you have a properly functioning car and at least one cat you should have no trouble passing without using special stuff in the gas tank. If you look at those numbers, running alcohol or other stuff in the gas tank is just overkill. If you can't pass emissions you have something wrong with the car you should probably know about. Remember, poor emissions will kill your cat and cause it to clog, not a good thing, so personally I'd like to know if I can pass legit or not.

Red face

So Cal is doing the dyno test on the rollers now...my first time with this at 15 and 25 mph. That is what I had to do.

Oh, and I just have a DP, K and N, and a Tripoint AST...
sorry
and good luck on your smog checks. I'm happy! another 2 years here in Cali

Just change your address to a non-biannual smog county and forget about all this smogging crap.

I think like 6 or 7 bucks. Kinda expensive, but hey I passed and I cleaned my intakes and injectors while I was at it....he he. By the way, I got mine at the Pep Boys in La Verne on Foothill. It is fairly close to you.

Ya right. Would you let me use your address to send mail to? Be more realistic.

Congrats 93BlackFD. Hey, they should give me commission for this product.
