I'm out in California. I'm in the Navy so I register my cars in my wife's home state (Oh) because it is easier to deal with the lack of emissions check. She is from Cumberland Oh.

As for the work on my car, I do all my work on it. I can do anything. I have a auto hobby shop available to me with every tool you can think off. I even have a paint booth and a temperature controlled engine build room with ultrasonic cleaning capability.

I really didn't want to get coilovers since most of us just adjust them once and that is it, but I wanted new shocks and springs to make my ride leveled I was a bit hesitant and didn't want to end up with the car being too low again and not leveled, so I went with coilovers. I was going to get BC coil overs since I have them on my Mazdaspeed 6 and they are pretty good, but was afraid that the ride was going to be too soft for the FD and make my wheel rub with the fender liner again. So I stuck with what I knew that was a happy medium. I had Tein Flex's on my last FD and they were pretty good. I wanted to get another set of Tein Flex's again but I could not find them on stock any where. As soon as I saw the Stance and how well constructed (robust) I was very pleased that I made a wise choice. I also couldn't pass up the price I got for them for compared to the price of the Flex. I paid $1100 to my door including tax.
Looking forward to your impressions on the Stances and where you ultimately end up with the dampening / height settings. These or the BCs look like a great option.

Yes El Centro is "close" close to San Diego about 1-1.5 depending where you are at. Looking forward to seeing your 2JZ FD.

Suspension semi-adjusted till the springs settle. Did I mention that I hate coil overs? I took this opportunity to fix some wires that were exposed from the tire rubbing on the fender. I also painted the calipers matte red with silver/bare Mazda logo and sanded off the SUMITOMO logo off. Then she got a well needed bath since she was covered on sand from the last wind/sand storm. She needs a full detail. I'm planning on detailing her next Monday or when ever I get done with the gauges.

You can go lower. The fenders are 25.5" inches from the ground all around. It looks lower than what it is in the picture.

What caliper paint did you use? Do I see that you've removed the Shine spoiler?

Sounds like the gauges are going in soon... Can't. Wait.

I used Duplicolor engine enamel. It was the only one I could find in matte red. I remove the Shine spoiler because the carbon fiber look wasn't going with the car. I still considering getting a fiberglass one but I kind of forgot about it to be honest. Don't mind the wingless look at all.

For the exterior, I'm not sure. Every day I want something different. One day I want a GTC front bumper with RE headlights and feed style side skirts. Another day I want 99 spec bumper with plate and OEM side skirts, Then another day I want to leave it the way it is and add OEM side skirts. One thing is for sure I have new rims on mind I will keep that idea to myself because I am 100% I will be the only one with them.

Look a what the Brown truck of happiness dropped off today Expect a new thread with details on how I'm going to install this. Don't mind where the needles are sitting. The gauges will self calibrate.

Fantastic, the more details the better. I expect this is not the last time these gauges are going to be ordered... Great choice on color combination / design.

Yaaay!!

I'm so glad you decided to go with the black w/ red lettering.

I thought you wanted white face gauges, and all that other weird stuff? >_>

It looks so awesome though! Definitely a valid and very worthy ~$800 mod to consider down the road!

Man, with black FD's your options are limitless man..

Burnout widebody front & rear fenders, and then go from there. Everything looks good with those fender flares, I tell ya. :P

Feed flares look good too though, and might look better with ur current rim choice too.

I wanted to keep the car looking clean. Beside the red and black continues my colors inside.

As for fender flares, I'm not to big on them. If anything I would like the "add on" ones that are riveted for that old school look but I don't think those would look good. Also IMO if you are going to do flares you need deep lips on the rims and the rims I'm planning on replacing the Enkie with have no lip but they are concave a bit.

Fender flares are only as agressive as you allow them to be.

I'm sure running 18X9's or some nice 19X8.5's all around with 255's or 265's would look just as nice. It's all about YOUR style.

Personally, I find the Burnout fenders to be great because of the sharp edges, it gives the FD some more "modern" curves, akin to say a C6 Z06, which is a compliment as far as I'm concerned.

There are some great styles of rims like WEDS TC105N, Advan RS/RZ's, etc, that present a unique spoke design with varying degrees of concave-ness (is that a real word? :P).

The Enkei rims you have look nice on black, and if it helps for refernence, I have pics of a very clean red FD running the same rims, with the complete "Burnout" body kit w/ fenders. And it looks very nice. That car almost convinced ME to buy the same Enkei rims you have now.

I can post the pics for reference, if you like.

I'm not sayin', but I'm just sayin'.

Yoshi, Go ahead and post the picture of the red FD with the fender. I'm interested on seeing it. I'm not by any means saying that the burnout fenders are ugly but it will take a lot of convincing for me to get them. As for the rims I'm dead set on a set that I have been eying for a while. I was originally going to get them but I couldn't get an accurate shipping date and I got told I could be waiting as long as a year because they were not in production as of yet. If that falls thorough, I will search for a set of Volk GT-Us. I love mesh style rims on this cars.

And for some inspiration with ur FD being black, n' all...

^.^

I bet you want those BBS LM rims or whatever they're called, since you're a big "meshie" fan. ^.^

I'll sell you my 18X8 HP Evo's for cheap if you want some cheaper meshies till them! haha! :P

Side Note: Can someone tell me what side-mirrors are on the Black FD??? Thanks.
