Finally got David Garfinkle's Motor mounts..

I finally got off my *** and sent in my mounts to be modified for Garfinkle oil pan brace and to lower the engine a bit..

The quality of his work is TOP NOTCH!! And the design seems put better than most mounts out there.. I highly recommend these if you have Garfinkle's oil pan!

How do you get up with him? I was looking to get one of his engine torque brace but can't find an easy way to do it.

David does great work. I have his torque brace, turbo manifold, flanged IC pipes, and relocated BOV on my car. My motor mounts were courtesy RX-7 World

+1 on David's work. I have his idler pulley and oil pan brace. This is a reminder to get my motor mount arms machined down over the winter.

He got them modified to lower his engine. I was asking if they originally raised his engine. Hence the reason for modification...

I have yet to install them on the car as they are going on with my new engine.

But I have several other mounts and when studied, I find these to be far superior in design regarding reducing engine vibration. I completely agree with most Garfinkle's designs vs. other similar products available by other vendors.

I'll try to post better comparison pictures this weekend comparing all the mounts I have (I think I have 4 or 5 different versions).

Phil

Not knocking G's product because I have no personal experience with it and he's always been a nice guy when we've chatted at the DGRR events

I've now used two different sets of poly motor mounts over the last 7 years that have the bolt passing all the way through (Gotham and now IRP) and the engine vibration is not detectable from the driver's seat. I *have* been in FDs with other mounts that exhibited noticeable vibration, so not all poly mounts are designed the same.

My boy fiz-e has a set of IRP motor mounts and i have a set of garfinkle motor mounts and i can tell all you just by looking and by feeling the material that the garfinkles are much rigid than the IRPs and they seem like they will vibrate the cabin but until i install my garfinkles i can`t confirm my statement.

'love Garfink's stuff.

i consider his engine torque brace to be essential. it relieves all the torque on the motor mounts and PPF and is longitudinally located exactly where it should be: in the same plane as the motor mounts. no twist in the motor.

i believe his engine pan brace is best in class as it has exquisitely machined recesses for the pan flutes. they are onboard all the engines i build.

i am currently fiddling w his idler pulley in hopes it fits my CPR manifold. most aftermarket FD water pump pulleys slip at higher rpm and David's solves the problem. i believe Pineapple also offers a similar pulley upgrade.

OTOH, i like my stock motor mounts and they are not going to be ripping anytime soon because of the engine torque brace.

here's to you David.
