final problem before i can drive again

so this is it.... the car is "running" and everything has pretty much been figured out. this is the last issue i have. the video explains it all. im kind of on a time limit as well. i will be leaving for the states on the 13th and i would rather park my car at my house instead of at the hobby shop which charges PER day...
any thoughts?

sounds like its 1 rotoring. check compression. even if you just pull the lower spark plugs and listen for even swooshes. should sound like "ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch" if thats ok, remove the cat, it may be plugged up and causing the problem

i havent done a compression check yet. i dont have access to anything that can be used to do so...

some more info

im non-seq to include taking the turbos apart
stock ecu for now but i do have a power fc with commander
map sensor is good, it was checked on another rx7
no vacuum leaks that i could find
the motor has been sitting for about a year in my storage closet in my house (supposed rebuilt)
the spark plugs are BRAND new fresh out of the box
turbos are not blown
nothing else i can think of that would be relevant....

Yeah, just shine a light down into the catalyst, it should look like a nice even hone comb. If its collapsed and full of loose parts then its clogged. Also, you're running stock cat without the airpump?

cool... if its not even then i need to replace or delete it?

yes, stock cat no air pump. it was that way long before i even bought the car. except it had a stock downpipe on it also with a pfc. im guessing this is a bad thing? youre the second person to have mentioned that to me....

Running a stock cat without an airpump will cause clog the car a lot faster. You should replace It with a high flow cat or a straight pipe. Just be very careful of boost creep

sooooooooo......

i drove my car home today. its "fixed". as long as i stay out of boost (which i will get to in a minute) it drives as an fd should. i honestly have no idea what we did to get it to be "fixed".

heres all that we did today:
installed efini y pipe
cleaned o2 sensor
swapped the coil packs and wires for another set
swapped the coil packs and wires BACK to the original set
removed the cat
installed the cat
removed stock ecu
installed pfc
removed pfc
re-installed stock ecu

somewhere in there the car just got its act together. there were A LOT of failed starts in that process and A LOT of strange things happened but we kept starting it and kept playing with it and eventually all was well. everytime we started it, it gradually starting sounding more and more like it was supposed to.

one guy said since the motor was sitting for so long in storage it just needed time to "re-seat the seals". regardless of the explanation it got itself home on its own power. the smoke is gone completely, not even a tiny bit of smoke at all. no smells, no sounds, nothing. all is as it should be.

now onto the new issue. i have no boost. when i tried boosting it, i got what sounded like boost cut. i'll try and get a video of it so you guys have a better idea of what im talking about. i havent starting searching around for boost issues yet and i'm sure i'll find a solution when i do.

the next thing, that im not even sure is an issue or not, but it sounds different. more throaty, almost like its ported, which its not. i dont know if its just been that long since ive heard the car or what. i'll get a video of that too. i dont think its an exhaust leak. actually, i know its not an exhaust leak.

the overwhelming excitement at the hobby shop today was a good feeling. the staff was very excited to see me drive off in that car. its been sitting there for almost 6 months. some fresh gas is on the way.....

boost issue sorted. no oil metering pump and a stock ecu make for no boost and other issues such as "limp mode". i put the pfc back in, reset it and the car boosts now. i will be spending all day tommorow doing some finishing touches and getting the car ready to be driven on a daily basis.

thanks for the help everyone. i'll update if/when i run into more issues
