few quick questions..

went and looked at an rx7 tonight. 58600 miles, new motor with 1500 on it. here's the outcome of the drive/looking at it.

startup cold - smoke out the exhaust for like a second, went away really quick

idled around 800-900, smooth no stutter.

didnt have a boost guage with me, gonna check that tomorrow...he said he gets max boost of 12, sometimes it spikes to 13 but not often.

now mind you, this is my first time driving one, but first gear was incredible...i thought the front tires were off the ground. gears were smooth, cept the 5th syncro. suspension was firm. it was dark so i couldnt really see if it was smoking under boost...but the exhaust is fairy open (downpipe, gutted cat) so i did shoot my first flame

he said the turbotimer had a built in fuel thing on it, so it was like a fuel guage too, and he had it running slightly rich to be safe without a boost guage. it has the pettit ast, silicon hose job is all done (thank god!) and the interior is very nice.

the passenger door handle thing was a little loose, he said this is a normal problem?

he's asking 14000 for it, its touring. not set on the price, i wanna get it for 12k. gonna call him tomorrow and test out the boost and all that, check for fluid leaks and stuff. did i miss anything? what do you guys think?

oh yea, there's some clearcoat problems in quite a few spots on the car, that should help lower the price.

sounds like a solid car...a little wary that he has a new motor but no boost gauge. How does he adjust his fuel if he doesn't know how much boost he is doing.

Do a compression test, watch his boost careful.

Price seems fair if all is in good order...negotiate down to 13500
