feels like ONE rotor
feels like ONE rotor
i just had the spark plugs and wires changed, and i don't know if it's a coincidence or not....(oh yea... the motor does have 100k on it) but i started her up, and it just started running like crap....lots and lots of smoke coming out of the tail pipe, an a little smoke coming from passenger side of engine bay right above turbo's. It almost feels like it's running on only ONE rotor....i have no clue what this problem could be...i'm still a rotary n00b so yea....any help would be VERY VERY appreciated!! cuz as of now..it's just sitting on the sidewalk
i'd really like to get it fixed so i can roll up to the nor cal bbq meet on the 26th!!!

Did it start doing this immediately (first startup after plug & wire change)? Or was it OK right at first?
Also, did some vacuum line get knocked loose (like the MAP sensor) during the change?

i had my friend do it....but the thing is we checked the plugs and the plug wires like 6 different times....checking if they were in the right order if the right plugs were in the right places....we're 100% sure they are, and we checked the ignition packs to see if they were still good... did a resistance check, all within spec. Checked the igniter as well. What else could it be?
yea..it acted like this IMMEDIATELY after the plug and wire change
but one thing we didn't check was vacuum lines yet....would a vacuum line make it run like that? i mean....shooting smoke out the *** and feel like it's missing, and running on one rotor?

If the MAP vacuum hose is off (and it's easy to dislodge it), it will run poorly - the MAP sensor is the little rectangular box mounted near the top of the driver's side firewall just above and to the right of the brake vacuum chamber, and, I think, says "boost pressure." The hose is on the bottom.

Was the smoke black or gray? If so, it is running too rich. If it's not the MAP sensor, it could be any of several things that are darn near impossible to diagnose from your somewhat vague description (not trying to flame here, just being factual).
Just hope it's the MAP.
