Feels Like hitting Fuel Cut Randomly!

Hey guys,

Tried a few searches but didn't exactly know what to look for.

I was driving my fd on the highway today and out of nowhere I get sudden loss of power. I wasn't even under boost just cruising around 100kph. It felt like hitting fuel cut or speed cut @ 180k. Just like hitting a brick wall. I had to release the fuel pedal to regain power. It happened all the way home (turned around and drove home - about 3kms) at random moments at random speeds. I don't experience the 3000rpm hesitation and it was at random rpm anywhere from 1500 - 6000.

Anyone else experience this before I go digging around?

To answer the simple questions:

3/4 tank of supreme
Oil fine
no a/c or stereo on at the time
starts and runs fine as usual
idles fine
boost is great and haven't experienced it under boost

Completely OEM engine with AutoExe airbox and AutoExe catback..nothing else

any help is greatly appreciated!!

Id like to know as well Ive been having the same issue randomly sometimes not showing up for weeks, but in the end when it happens its like you hit some invisible wall especially when accelerating.

Sounds like an electrical issue to me. I would start by checking your spark plug and coil wires.

Thanks for the replies.

I plan to check a few obvious things, but I was just wondering if anyone had this experience and found an exact solution for it. I can see it being a fuel pump or coil wire for sure.

I will post what I find..

Thanks again,

Hulan

Try cleaning your stock grounds/adding new grounds.

Found the problem. It was a set of what I had thought to be good quality Plug wires. They are less than 3000kms old and they've crapped out already. I replaced them with my originals and the problem has stopped. I have a new set on order from Mazda.

I ordered a set of oem NGK plugs and what I thought to be NGK wires. Found out today after digging around that they were actually knock off replicas with an NGK logo. I am contacting the company and demanding a refund.

Thanks for everyone's help.
