Fed up with this car
bump for my car still having the same problem...did i perhaps bust a check valve or plug when i lifted the UIM? I'll probably need someone more experienced to look at my car now =/
edit: tommorow morning i'll let the car run until warm up
is it possible that i somehow re-enabled the car's warm-up system?...cuz i remember what it was like before i went single turbo, then all the emissions stuff came off and it stopped, i assume they disabled it then.

okay that whinning noise i described is more of a piercing high pitched whistling, and it sounds like something is about to explode... its really loud.
perhaps the alternator freakin out?
perhaps the alternator freakin out?
okay big update...started the car and left it on...
first it hits 2500 rpms...its all breakin up but it stays
then about 15 seconds later it starts to pulse...dropping down to 2000 and jumping back up to 2500, about once a second.
then about another 15 seconds later it was dropping all the way to 1500 and back up to 2500, again about once a second.
could a bad gasket cause ALL this trouble?! that was my friends suggestion but i need more opinnions.

The Apexi PFC doesn't have the accelerated warm up like the stock ECU so it's not that. The first picture, the one with the big bolt in it actually is the acelerated warm up hose that would go back to the stock elbow, it's not used by the PFC either so no biggie. The second picture looks like the coolant line that would connect to the TB opening you have in the first picture.
If it's a gasket leak, buy a can of starter fluid, and slowly spray around the UIM. If it's leaking, it will suck it in and make the engine rev even higher than before. Could try to just reset the ECU. Take the negative off and hold the brake down for 20 sec, reconnect the cable and see if it helps.
You have a loud whinning noise from the front of the engine? How loud?
What kind of settings are in the PFC? How old is your 02 sensor? Try disabling the O2 feedback in the commander.

That's correct, PFC doesn't use AWS. Didn't even notice in his mods list. Look at the screen in the commander and make sure that the components are ok. Check reading for TPS reading through commander, make sure it's within spec. You may have bumped the TPS when you took off the UIM. Go through user's manual for PFC commander if you don't know how to get to those screens.
throttle position sensor good call...
back from work now...if you didnt notice. i started a new thread but i guess this one is more popular by now...
the whinning is pretty damn loud...my dad said its a vacuum leak...he coulda told me this 2 days ago...punk
i'm gonna take the thing appart and label the pieces for future reference, i dunno which hose is off but the super loud whinning sound is probably caused by it.
P.S. when i lifted the UIM i only lifted it maximum 2 inches cause it was still attached to TB... so maybe a hose got pulled off...i'll update you guys as the teardown progresses and tell you what i find.

shnaps its gotta be one of the vac's near the firewall thats where my friend said the whinning was coming from...shoulda looked closer at that walkthru, cause i realize now i cant see those lines without raising the UIM upwards...
I'll tell you if this is the case (im 80% sure this is it)

does anyone know what the UIM should look like with single turbo hose setup...i cant see any disconnected hoses in plain sight even when i fully tilt up the UIM...is there one literally on the firewall side of the UIM parralel with the floor
im gonna go take pics and see if you guys cant see anything grossly wrong from just lookin at it

of note, all the plugs and hoses were plugged in...could a bad gasket really cause a severe whistling sound...also it made the sound with and without the elbow on, and actually having the elbow on or off didnt change the symptoms at all...odd right?

this shows where i DID have things connected, i think thats everything right???

then i found these wires frayed on a plug connecting to one of the coils...would this cause such a problem? i wouldnt think so, its not helping but it wouldnt cause all this in my opinion

tell me if you guys see something wrong from the pics
thx in advance,
brian

Then i realized i didnt even have a place to mount the fc1000, go figure. So i hit my head on my hood and it starts bleeding...
All ive ever wanted to do was to be able to work on my own car, but this is pissing me off, if i cant even get the intake manifold off, how am i supposed to do anything? All anyone has done is make fun of me cause im so young owning this car, but noone has offered to even teach me how to do things right.
If anyone has a thread on takin the manifold off and how to get the the coils, i really need it about now...and if anyone has a picture of where they mounted a FC1000 in an FD, i could use some ideas...
i need a few minutes to calm down, hopefully someone out there can show me how to work this bitch.

$14,000 at one shop. Your car should running perfect and with more power! Remind me not to go near that place.
It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. It could be from a hose under the UIM not connected or the seal between the UIM & TB might not be tight.
Someone once told me to try spraying carb cleaner near the UIM /TB to check for leaks. Start the car, spray the carb cleaner, if the idle drops you found your leak. Try it.
Why don't you just sell the Jacobs and buy an HKS Twin Power? Much easier to install. Plug n play in 10 mins.
Funny thread. I feel your pain.

A) the shop does pretty good work i was just venting lol
B) i dont have the extra 200 bucks to dish out for an HKS
trailing plugs like fine, you want them to be half and half like that, well that's according to Brian Richards at the defunct M2. The leading plugs look rich, check to see if they are firing like they should.
