FDs in your area?

I was musing the other day about how few 3rd gens I see anymore around here. Several years ago we had an informal club of 7 or 8, now I hear or see little of these guys in the Wichita area.
Obviously there have always been FAR fewer FDs in this area than the more populated areas, so the question is have you seen a decline in sightings in your area, recently?

Damn....that's going way back.

No exact numbers, but I think they've actually increased some around here (Omaha metro-area). A local guy seems to be staying busy doing engine rebuilds and mods and it sounds like that's been the impetus for some to buy an FD. Recently someone else bought another one. But he's a car salesman and will probably flip this one eventually too.

There is quite a few in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, now getting everyone together at once would probably be hard to do. Not to mention Texas weather has sucked lately raining every weekend and if it rains no FD's come out. So for FD's to come out it has to be an organized meet, great weather, and most likely on the weekend.

I don't see them as often as I used to but I'm sure there are still a good amount in the DC area. I know personally at least ten guys with Fd's in the area that are forum members. I used to know that many just down in my county. One of my buddies has two. We're more spread out now. I'd guess there are a lot more this that floating around.

There's a whole bunch around here, many in exceptional condition and quite a few non rotary powered ones.

lol, i live in a strange area, Rx7's are less common than a 50 year old british car.... i've seen two 1960's Ferrari GTO's at one stoplight, and i know a guy who drives a D type Jag to work once in a while.

but finding a running S4 T2 has been a fools errand, there are two in northern California.

we used to have an FD guy who kept all the cars running, but what happened is that the 1st and second owners sold, the new owners are younger and either think everything repair should be $12 or don't understand the concept that you should change more parts than the engine when you change the engine, so their cars either don't run or are always broken. if the car is near stock, and you change the engine, and do the clutch/pulsation damper, water hoses, etc you can go 60,000miles without having to really do anything more than normal services.

There is a pretty fair amount here in the NW, I probably see a FD every two to three weeks - usually on the highway.

I see them every now and then down here in SD, but not as often as I would've expected.

I feel like many FD owners down here have second cars, and (like me) have their FD's sitting for periods of time....

that prius guy you're honking at may have an FD in the garage!

Still a fair amount of them here in the Bay Area as well. Especially south bay / San Jose, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Just saw a yellow one Sat night when the wife and I went out to dinner. Drove mine down to Carmel on Sun to chill on the beach. I randomly see stock looking ones during my commute. Sometimes driven by chicks even.

yeah I used to DD mine for about a year or so, but after getting an rx8 as a dd, the fd doesn't get driven nearly as much as it used to. and usually only on nice days.

again know several people with fds that turn into long projects and sit for many months sometimes years!
