Question FD's w/blown motor...What are they worth?

Just wondering.....Looking into getting an FD next year. Is it smart to buy one w/a blown motor and just replace it? Thanks people.

ya its fine to replace it..make sure you send it to someone that knows what their doing and won't rip u off..check out www.kdrotary.com dave their did two or my 3rd gen's..i got one single turbo and twin they both run nice...biggest thing in these cars is warming them up and cooling them down after and before driving..and of course get an intercooler..boost guage and turbo timer..these are key for reliability

So, if I'm on a budget(which I know I shouldn't be when owning an FD)....I'm guessing the first two mods should be a boost gauge and a turbo timer. Or am I wrong about the turbo timer? It may be a year b4 I get one.....just wanting to know now so I'm ready. FOund some sites and starting to learn little by little about the FD. Have an FC but have to sell it. Going to get a beater for now....maybe a CRX(for the mpg). Going to keep it around to drive when I can't drive the FD.....if and when I get one

It's good if you plan on replacing the engine and/or turbos. A good shell can run you between $6000-$10,000. Add another $5000-$10,000 or so, depending on how mad you wanna get for goodies, and you got yourself a perfect little racer.

Keeping it somewhat stock for a while won't bother me. I'll have to get used to the power. I want to do that slowly and safely. No use in rushing into in and risking killing myself, right? So, I'm looking at around $10-$12K for an FD w/a blown motor and a new motor then?

That is definately what I would do if I could do it all over again. Buy a car with a blown motor, or one on its last leg. Make sure you find a car in excellent shape. You shouldn't have a problem doing this. a lot of ppl seem to buy and FD, the motor goes on them and they just give up on the car. Plus you can have the motor built exactly for you. Your best bet is to have it ported right off the bat. Ppl that don't regret it usually. It really compliments bolt ons nicely.
