FD3S Restoration?

Hey, I'm getting an FD3S on eBay (back off, it's mine!). It needs restoration. Can someone help me out here(what parts I should get, etc.)? Here are the details:

This car has a low compression motor and it does not start. The interior has heavy wear on the seats, but the trim is in good condition.the exterior has some chipped paint, and a few cracks. I have detailed pictures of the areas. One of the rims has a dent in it andit has a flat tire. The car has a salvage title, but the body damage has been repaired. the airbags were not replaced.

Thanks in advance.

Im currently looking for an 3rd gen rx-7. I think I saw that car you're talking about. But the engines needs to be rebuilt, and the car is a total mess...should be a fun project, wish I had the time and money to do it.

So, let me get this straight. You want us to tell you what parts to get when you have not provided any pictures of the vehicle whatsoever.

Dude, post the pictures. Without an inspection, that is pretty much the ONLY way we can help you w/ your parts replacement.

Now that I think about it....bring the car to a mechanic that specializes in fixing rotaries.

I see you are in Alaska.
Where is the car? Is it in the lower 48 states?
Did you already have it shipped?

Just go to the 3rd gen For Sale section:
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/forumd...php?forumid=99

People part out cars all the time. Just get a basic idea of how much each part will cost like seats, airbag, rim, etc and put some more thought into whether or not that particular car is what you want to deal with....
Also, how much is your time worth?

Other than my paint (which will be done in a year or so) My is basically new. I re-did the interior which used to be tan. You can get really nice seat upolstry at www.leatherseats.com

You have a lot of options. You can paint your wheels any color you like, they turn out great and are durable. You can sand out any imperfections they will be like new. Cost is less than $20.00 and a few hours of your time.

Painting stock wheels:

You can get really nice leatherseat covers for your car at leatherseats.com. The cost is under $600 and its much better quality than stock. You can get any color you want or color combos and suede inserts. I chose solid black leather. I installed mine myself in 2 days that saved me like $500 for the installation costs. Been over a year and they hold up great. If you want a set of the tan seat covers I have my used set in good condition, let me know.

pics of them installed.

Your bushings in the rear are probably shot, will cost 700-1000 to have all 8 of them replaced. Will make a huge difference in the ride of the car. I had all mine done.

I replaced my rotors with slotted rotors for a cost of $280.00 at www.irotors.com

I got rx7.com brake pads.

I got a strut tower brace of ebay. its BOMEZ Racing brand. For $20.00 and its a perfect fit and brand new, polished alum and very strong. I was amazed at the quality. Will help with making the car feel more tied together.

Nice day.

How to make a small fortune:

Start with a large one and they rebuild a beater FD3S!

Good luck. I hope you stole that sonamabeach.

Hey Zerobanger. Nice pics. All black except the strut tower brace. When are you going to paint it black too!

It really should match the rest.

Actually, my water housing unit is now polished when I got my new engine, and Im gonna get a PC680 with a polished battery holder from rotaryextreme. So it will balance out with those 3 pieces bling bling.
