VA FD3S Rear hatch information?

Car: 93 R1
Issue: Rear Hatch

I used to have the R Magic spoiler on the back until I hit a crow at 80 mph. The spoiler was pretty much destroyed and the hatch suffered some damage. The junk yard near me has a hatch for sale for $400 but they are telling me it won’t fit because it’s for a RX-7 with sunroof.

Is there a difference in the hatch due to the sunroof? My R1 does not have a sunroof and I do not want a spoiler anymore.

Thanks for any help.

There's is no fit difference but I would try to find one without a rear wiper if you can.

I may have a hatch w/o wiper and I'll verify later today. I'm located in charlottesville VA 22901. I'll check the condition and let you know the price. Won't be more than 300 and could be as low as 175.

I'll check later today and let you know.

Let me know, the only plus right now is that the hatch at the junk yard is the same color as my R1 which is black. But if you have one let me know I would appreciate it.

I've heard the glass shape changed in years but not between no sunroof and sunroof. They're the same I have a hatch from a R1 on my touring since mine used to have a carbon fiber one and I didn't want it anymore so traded a friend.

Just to clarify, the only difference with sunroof/no sunroof with regards to the hatch is whether or not it has rear wiper. Cars with a sunroof had a rear wiper. You can easily bolt on a hatch with a rear wiper, but the wiring won't be there to make it functional and the wiper is additional weight.

did the R1 factory hatch have the spray nozzle like the sunroof models?

Thanks for all the info, I just got a quote to repair my R1 hatch and fill the spoiler holes and re-paint it. They are asking $375, so I think I will just go ahead and do that.

Thanks
