FD3S JDM vs USDM

is there any difference in performance between JDM and USDM models if both 255hp models compared. Different sources list different specs. some say 13.5 second 1/4 mile time for JDM version which is lighter as far as i know.

Also how much WHP is necessary to brake into 12s on FD?

it depends on the driver really there is a guy that said he ran 12.5 with 260WHP and i have 260 whell horsepower and i ran a 13.2 so its really up to the driver. Also the fastest stock rx7 quarter that i have ever heard of was a 13.3

A quarter mile time also depends on how well you set up the car. If a FD with a stock motor hooks up the tires without spinning it will be faster. If you have a FD that spins down the track your e/t will suffer.

I know later fds have a 4.33 gear ratio in Japan and that will translate to a different ET.

the jdm version is lighter and also produces more horsepower due to its lack of a precat. and if you want to be realistic most jdm fd's have been modded with a catback exhaust as well which helps increase hp, and larger 17" wheels which generally helps at the drag strip but doesn't hurt it too much at autocross.

damn i just realized i bumped this months old thread. i suxor

are you sure JDM doesnt have precat? both models have 255hp until 97 when 265hp models appeared in japan

JMD = 13.5 1/4
USD = 14.2 1/4

I think... its something on the lines of that... my FD is stock besides exhaust and to be honest, I think mine will get mid 12's to high 12's.. i've driven other FD's and none go as good as mine..? Funny, I know...

Dennis,

5th gear is shorter. maybe its taller? but either way the rpms are higher in 5th in the j-spec car.

I have a r1 with intake, turbo back and bov, pfc (base map), stock boost, shock/spring combo from stillen and I ran 12.6 on 555r, and 12.3 on slick letting off during competition. I think I can run 12.1 at the very least (1.8 v. 1.6 60ft), so 12.0 is possible for me. Im going to wait until jan comes around for another event.
