FD3 Purchase

I'm going to be buying a flawless '93 RX7 5 speed with 9000 miles on it, but am leary of it. I do not have a clue about the rotary engine, and performance enhancements. I've read how easy it is to destroy one of these engines, and do not want to be in that situation. If I did decide to keep the car what modifications would need to be made to get the car in the solid 12 second range, what order should the mods be made in, and the approx. cost of these mods? If I were to sell the car what would it be worth (range).
Thanks Brad

what up Brad

guys I met Brad today, he bought a silver 93 touring at an auction here in Anchorage, Alaska today for an extreme bargain (I'll let Brad post the price if he wants to) and it has 8800 miles on it (probably 9200 miles now that he drove back to fairbanks). I forgot to ask, Brad, if you checked the title and everything?

If you guys bought an FD with that low of miles and in perfect condition would you leave it stock, sell it for $23k+ and buy another, or put some mods on it (above and beyond the downpipe)

good catch Brad, I'm glad some schmuck dealer didn't buy it, if I didn't have mine already I would've been there bidding against you

Bob

I don't have any advice on auctions because this was a one in a million Holy Grail type of find, I don't think you'd find an FD in the states for less than $22k with less than 9000 miles

I just happened across it in todays paper, apparently Brad saw it a few days ago and drove 400 miles down from Fairbanks (probably one of the frickin coldest towns in Alaska in the winter time, besides the North Slope) and is driving it back up tonight. I hope he got it, when I left the auction they still hadn't approched him for the money.

Just pulled the car in the garage 10 minutes ago Bob. It was a great drive back from Anchorage, the car performed flawlessly. I plan on sticking to my original plan and try to sell the car for the right amount of cash, if not then I'm STUCK with an extremely low mile RX7.
Talk at you later,
Brad

I'm surprised anyone would buy an FD in Alaska...Guess you will only be able to drive it 2 months out of the year when the snow isn't there :-)

Cool

Actually I could drive the car from the middle of May through most of Sept. Fairbanks has the wildest temp. swings in the world. From -60 to the mid 90's. Heck we even drag race about six weekends out of the summer.

and Anchorage is way milder, I drive mine from late March - early April to mid October. I guarantee we have you all beat on summers though - pleasant temperatures, and the sun comes up at 5:00 am and sets at 11:30 pm, and never really gets dark, from May to late July. Some of our Canadian cousins can probably testify. A cold winter day in Anchorage is 0 to -5, usually it's in the 20s

Cool

Actually in the summer in Fairbanks the sun doesn't ever really set. So for about four months out of the year it has to be one of the best places to live in weather wise. Another huge plus is that there aren't to many cops in this town, so you don't have to worry about being constantly harrassed if you drive a little fast.
